The Tower was immersed in a tense stillness when Lía arrived at the control room. Ana and Marcos were already there, checking the monitors with worried expressions. The intelligence report on the possible infiltration of the Supreme Council hung over them like a dark shadow.
—What do we know so far? —Lía asked, her voice firm but tense.
Ana gave him a file with the details collected so far. There were reports of suspicious movements in the vicinity of the Tower and testimonies from citizens who claimed to have seen individuals dressed as Council agents.
"It seems they are planning a coordinated attack," Marcos said, pointing to points marked on a map of the city. —They could be trying to take control of the Tower or sabotage our reconstruction efforts.
Lía frowned, her mind working at full speed. She knew they had to act quickly and decisively if they wanted to avoid a tragedy.
"Strengthen security at all entrances," she ordered. —Send additional patrols and keep all citizens inside the Tower until we are sure the threat has been neutralized.
While Ana and Marcos hurried to carry out her orders, Lía was immersed in her thoughts. There was something about this situation that didn't add up. The idea that the remnants of the Council were planning such a brazen and direct attack made no sense. They had been overthrown, why would they risk everything on such a risky move?
Then, an idea began to form in Lía's mind. She remembered the words of Garrick, the Council Commander captured during the battle in the underground sector. He had spoken of the persistence of control and the temptation of tyranny. Could it be that the real instigators behind this plan were not the Council's followers, but someone else?
With determination, Lía got up from her seat and headed towards the interrogation room. Garrick was there, handcuffed and guarded by two guards. His gaze was cold and defiant when Lía entered the room.
—What do you know about the possible attack on the Tower? she asked, her voice sharp.
Garrick smirked, but said nothing. Lia gritted her teeth, knowing that she wouldn't get answers easily.
"You know we're not going to let this happen," she warned. —But if you want to save what's left of your legacy, you'll have to talk to me.
Garrick looked at her curiously, his eyes shining with a spark of interest.
"You have no idea what you're facing," he said quietly. —There are forces at play that go beyond what you can imagine.
Lía felt a chill run down her spine. There was something in Garrick's look that told her he was telling the truth. But before she could press him further, a commotion broke out outside the interrogation room.
They ran to the control room, where they found Ana and Marcos fighting a group of armed intruders. The Tower was under attack.
Without hesitation, Lía joined the fight, her mind spinning as she tried to understand what was happening. There was a hidden truth in this situation, a truth that was about to be revealed. And Lía was determined to find out before it was too late.
