After the successful mission to deactivate the biological weapon, the atmosphere in the Tower was optimistic, but Lía knew that the victory was short-lived. The fight for NeoLumen's freedom was far from over. As the resistance worked tirelessly to strengthen its defenses and recruit more allies, Lía found herself facing a new enigma: the Council.
The Council was a mysterious group that had emerged in rumors among the rebels and citizens of NeoLumen. No one knew for sure who its members were or what their objective was, but they were said to have great influence over the enemy regime. If they could unmask the Council and understand its intentions, they could find a way to dismantle power from its foundations.
Lía, Ana, Marcos and Daniel met in the planning room to discuss this new challenge.
"We've heard about the Council, but we don't have much information," Ana said, showing a hologram with the little data they had collected. —It is said that they control strategic decisions and have access to resources that we did not even know about.
"We have to find out who they are and what they are planning," Marcos said. —If we can weaken their influence, we could change the course of the war.
Daniel, who had been in contact with several informants, nodded.
"I know someone who might have answers," he said. — Her name is Elena. She is a former regime operative who defected and has been living in the shadows. She has been investigating the Council for years.
Lía felt a spark of hope. This could be the opportunity they needed.
—Where can we find it? "She," she asked.
"In the old commercial districts, north of the city," Daniel answered. —But we must be careful. It is a heavily guarded area.
They organized an expedition to find Elena. Lía, Daniel, and a small team headed north of the city, moving stealthily through the deserted streets and ruined buildings. Enemy surveillance was intense, but they managed to avoid it thanks to Daniel's privileged information.
Finally, they arrived at an old shopping center, now a maze of rubble and shadows. They walked deeper into the building, their footsteps echoing in the silence. In a dark corner, a thin, hooded figure emerged from the shadows.
"Elena," Daniel said, approaching cautiously. -We are friends. We come in search of answers.
The woman lowered her hood, revealing a face marked by fatigue and determination.
"Daniel, it's good to see you," Elena said with a raspy voice. -What do you need?
"Information about the Council," Lía responded, coming forward. —We know you've been investigating them. We need to know who they are and how we can stop them.
Elena looked at them with a mixture of distrust and hope.
"The Council is a small but extremely powerful group," she said. —They are the true architects of the regime. They control operations from the shadows, using their wealth and connections to manipulate everyone, even their own soldiers.
Lía nodded, understanding the seriousness of what Elena was saying.
—Do you have any idea who the members of the Council are? "She," she asked.
Elena pulled out a device from her coat and projected a hologram. It showed blurry images and coded names.
"These are the few I have been able to identify," she said. —But they are extremely cautious. They hide behind layers of security and use intermediaries for their operations.
One of the names caught Lía's attention. He was a senior official who had appeared in several previous operations.
"We know this man," she said, pointing to the image. —He has been involved in several of our missions. If we can capture it, we might be able to get more information.
Elena nodded.
-It's a good start. But be careful. The Council has eyes and ears everywhere.
Lía, Daniel and the team returned to the Tower with Elena's information. They began planning an operation to capture the official and unravel the Council's network. They knew it was a risky mission, but they also knew it was crucial to their cause.
The operation was carried out at dawn. Lía led an elite team, infiltrating the official's residence while Ana and Marcos coordinated from the Tower. The guards were neutralized with precision and silence, and soon came face to face with their target.
-Who are you? The man asked, his voice shaking with fear.
"We are the resistance," Lía responded, her voice firm. —And you are going to tell us everything you know about the Council.
Under pressure, the official revealed vital information. He confirmed several of the names Elena had provided and revealed secret locations used by the Council for their meetings.
Back at the Tower, the resistance used this new information to plan a series of coordinated attacks against the strongholds of the Council. The first phase of the operation was a success, dismantling several cells and capturing key members.
In the planning room, Lía, Ana, Marcos and Daniel reviewed the results.
"We have dealt a significant blow to the Council," said Ana, with a satisfied smile. —But there is still work to do.
"I know," Lia replied. —But today we have shown that we can reach them. We will continue our fight until NeoLumen is free.
The battle against the Council had just begun, but the resistance was stronger and more united than ever. With each victory, they moved closer to their ultimate goal: to free NeoLumen from oppression and restore freedom and justice to the city.
