The information obtained from the captured official had been a severe blow to the Council, but Lía knew that the real test was yet to come. Among the data revealed, one location stood out: an underground fortress where the most important members of the Council were said to meet to plan their operations.
The resistance spent days preparing for the assault. Lía, Ana, Marcos and Daniel worked tirelessly, organizing teams, designing strategies and making sure that each member of the operation knew their role.
"This is our best chance to take down the Council once and for all," Lía said in a meeting with resistance leaders. —We cannot allow ourselves to fail.
Elena, who had joined the resistance after providing crucial information, was there too. She had offered her knowledge of the fortress, its defenses and possible entry points.
"The fortress is protected by a state-of-the-art security system," Elena explained, pointing to a holographic map. —But there is a secondary entrance that we could use to infiltrate without being detected.
—What type of internal defenses will we face? —Marcos asked, studying the map.
"Armed guards, surveillance drones, and automated security traps," Elena answered. —It will be dangerous, but with the right strategy, we can overcome them.
Lía nodded, understanding the seriousness of the mission.
"We will divide our team into two groups," she said. —One will infiltrate through the secondary entrance and deactivate the internal defenses. The other group will enter later to capture the Council members.
Ana and Daniel would lead the first group, while Lía and Marcos would command the second. The night before the operation, Lía took a moment to talk to her colleagues.
"Tomorrow we will face a great challenge," she said, her eyes scanning the faces of each team member. —But we are the resistance. We have overcome impossible obstacles before, and we will do it again. By NeoLumen.
"By NeoLumen," everyone responded in unison.
At dawn, the teams set off. They moved stealthily through the city, avoiding patrols and enemy drones, until they reached the secondary entrance to the fortress. Ana and Daniel led their group inside, disabling the traps and neutralizing the guards with precision and efficiency.
Lía and her team waited for the signal. Time passed slowly, each minute filled with tension. Finally, Ana's voice came through the communicator.
—We're inside. The defenses are disabled. Proceed.
Lía and her team advanced quickly, entering the fortress without encountering resistance. They moved through the dark underground hallways until they reached a large conference room, where the Council members were gathered.
-High! —Lía shouted, pointing her gun at the surprised leaders. —They are surrounded. They have no escape.
The members of the Council, surprised by the incursion, raised their hands in surrender. Lía and her team disarmed and secured them, checking the room for any traps or additional threats.
While her companions secured the fortress, Lía approached one of the leaders, a stern-looking man with calculating eyes.
"You have been the shadow behind the regime," said Lía. —But your time is up. NeoLumen will rise again, and justice will prevail.
The man smiled coldly.
"You may have captured us, but others will take our place." The fight never ends.
Lía looked at him firmly.
"The fight for freedom will always continue," he said. —And there will always be those willing to fight for it.
With the Council members captured, the resistance began to dismantle operations at the fortress. They found documents and files detailing the regime's plans, information that would be invaluable for future operations.
Back at the Tower, news of the Council's capture spread quickly. The resistance members celebrated their victory, knowing that they had taken a crucial step toward liberating NeoLumen.
Lía, Ana, Marcos, Daniel and Elena met to discuss the next steps.
"We have struck at the heart of the enemy," said Ana, with a smile of satisfaction. -But there's still a lot to do. We must use the information we have obtained to continue weakening the regime.
"The road to freedom is long and arduous," said Lía. —But today we have shown that we can achieve the impossible. We will continue forward, fighting with everything we have.
As the resistance prepared for the next phase of their fight, Lía felt renewed hope. She knew the road would be difficult, but he also knew that, together, they could face any challenge.
The battle for NeoLumen continued, and with each victory, freedom got a little closer further.
