Another day in Monsdat, another trip to Good Hunter. Although it was not for the food this time.
No, Kumagawa already cookes their breakfast, him and Lumine were taking turns at this particular chore. They were going to good hunter because it's owner had a commision.
She was a woman with brown hair tied in a ponytail and red eyes. Her name was Sara.
Sara:Oh, it's you! Over here, over here!
Paimon:It's Sara from Good Hunter!
Sara:Ah, finally, I caught you!
Lumine:Sorry, I already ate.
Sara:Oh, I'm not after your patronage. I have something I'd like the Knights of Favonius to do for me, and I want you to pass on my request to the Acting Grand Master.
Paimon:Oh, so it's Jean you were really hoping to see.
Sara:You are close with her?
Lumine:We're like peas in a pod.
Sara:Really? It must be a good feeling knowing Jean's got your back.
Kumagawa:[Yeah, it's so fun to bull...Work with her.]
Paimon:Your true intentions are coming out...Anyway, what was it you wanted us to tell Jean?
Sara:Oh yes...I must apologize for being unable to visit the Knights in person, but the restaurant has been so busy lately. Unfortunately, it's right in this busy season that the route between here and Springvale, which is used for the delivery of our ingredients, seems to have been occupied by the hilichurls. The problem is that the suppliers in Springvale say that deliveries have nothing to do with them, they're just responsible for selling us the ingredient.
Lumine:So you want someone to teach those hunters a lesson.
Paimon:What? No! How is that going to help!? Seems like someone's been influencing you.
Paimon turned her head, looking straight at Kumagawa. Feeling her stare, the minus nodded his head.
Kumagawa:[I agree.]
Paimon:Well, glad you're gonna take sime respo...
Kumagawa:[It mist be Kaeya-chan. Really, with his working behind the shadows and his piratish charms...He's a dubious one, that Kaeya-chan.]
Paimon:You know exactly who I'm talking about, mister!]
Sara:Hehe, you three really get along well.
Lumine:That aside, the commision?
Sara:Please ask Master Jean to send a party to clear out the hilichurls from the road to Springvale.
Lumine:Sure.
Sara:Phew, help at last. With Jean on the case, this'll be solved in no time. Thank you.
Kumagawa:[How things turn out, huh? One day you fight an corrupted dragon, the other you are the delivery services.]
Lumine:This is our lives now.
Paimon:Seems like everyone really trusts Jean.
Sara:Oh, I nearly forgot. Charles the bartender said he's been having some trouble too. Why don't you stop by and see him on the way?
Paimon:Fine. In for a penny, in for a pound is the Paimon way... but this is really stretching the definition of "on the way" in my opinion.
Listening to the request, the group took a detour to Angel's Share. Apparently, Jean personally goes over the finances, the alcohol industry being the biggest source of Monsdat's income.
Seems like Jean's help was in high demand. Even to the most medame of things.
Kumagawa:[Grand Master sure is an interesting position. I had no idea finding a missing cat was in the job description.]
Lumine:Seems like a nice people finish last type of situation...
Kumagawa:[Really, I thought she was smarter than that.]
Paimon:Yeah, maybe she's being a bit too noice. Although Paimon doesn't think it's a bad thing in of itself.
Kumagawa:[I suppose it could be admirable from a morality stand point. But she's still just one person. Jean-chan is a human being, not a non-stop working machine. She's crash pretty soon if she continues to act like one. Kind of reminds of how she was before...Tch, that stupid girl...]
Kumagawa's eyes changed for a bit, showing something unpleasant. Now that Lumine's thinking about it, this is not the first time.
Oh, she knows very well he's not as happy go lucky as he pretends to be. She's not sure why he insist on keeping this smiling mask of his, but he seems really adamant about it.
But there were times, when he was talking about his past, when parts of that mask would crack. She intends to ask him about it, as she decided after Venti's advice.
It was funny, in a way. She fearlessly goes on to find monsters, and ancient machines, and dragons, yet hesitate to ask something personal about the boy she had gotten so close to.
As those thoughts continued, they arrived At Jean's office in the Knights of Favonius Headquarters. Opening the door Jean was looking over the papers with a strange shake.
Paimon:Acting Grand Master...
Even Paimon noticed the strange state Jean was in. The Dandelion Knight really seemed out of it.
Paimon:Oh, ahh...Master Jean?
Lumine:...Behold, the Dandelion Knight herself?
Jean:Oh! It's our Honorary Knight. Sorry, I must have been daydreaming. How can I assist?
Paimon:Actually, it's not us who need your help. It's a bunch of other people...
Jean:I see. Well, thank you for your service to the people of Mondstadt. I have made a note of these commissions in my files and I will...Make arrangements...Accordingly.
Paimon:Great. We didn't miss out anyone's commissions, did we? Sara's hilichurls, Charles' tax return, Margaret's cat...Seems that's everything. We'll be on our way then, Jean...Jean?
Paimon noticed how Jean walked strangely as she got up from her chair. She collapsed not a moment after.
Kumagawa was the first to react, appearing before Jean and catching her before her body could hit the floor. He looked at her uncounscious body, tilting his head.
Kumagawa:[Wow, I didn't expect my prediction to be this accurate.]
Paimon:Quick, we have to check up on her.
Kumagawa laid Jean's body on the floor, taking her hand in his. After grasping her wrist for a bit he took a small mirror from Jean's desk and put it in front of her mouth.
Kumagawa:[Hm, her heartbeat and breathing don't seem to be irregular.]
Lumine:I didn't know you were a doctor.
Kumagawa:[Well, technically speaking, I'm not. But I was blessed to be around a lot of extraordinary people in my high school days, so I picked up a few skills.]
Kumagawa then stared at Jean's uncounscious body with great depth. Without hesitation, he gropped her thighs.
Kumagawa:[Yes, these seem to be very healthy.]
A moment lated the back of Lumine's sword meet the back of his head. Kumagawa was launched forward on the desk, breaking it in the process.
Barbara:Jean? I wanted to see if...
Barbara gasped, seeing Kumagawa's body amidst the rubble of the desk and Lumine kneeling beside an uncounscious Jean. She must have thought they were assaulted.
Kumagawa immediatly got up from the rubble with no sign of struggle, like a puppet of strings. He had only one thing to say.
Kumagawa:[This is not my fault.]
