You sat on the back of Vermax, high in the sky. Jace's hands reached to hold the reins around you. He sat behind you, struggling to reach over your pregnant stomach to lead the dragon, though he tried not to show that he was struggling for your benefit. Much to your relief, being in the sky seemed to relax you, the fresh air taking away the nauseous feeling you had felt on the ground. Being hundred of feet from the ground provided you with the freshest air, relieving so much of your sick feelings that the baby was causing you. For the first time in weeks you didn't feel like you were going to vomit if you moved your head too quickly.
The flight was only around a couple of hours, the Stormlands weren't too far from the Keep. Though, it was long enough for you to grow tired in Jace's arms, leaning back into his chest, eyes heavy. You wouldn't have ever expected this the first time on Vermax, being so relaxed on the back of a dragon, relaxed enough that you felt you may even fall asleep. Now though, you knew you were safe here. Vermax was an extension of Jace, and neither of them would ever let you get hurt, you or your child. You were safer here than on the ground below, events as of recent were proof enough of that.
As you came closer to the desired destination, the weather got more and more drab. It was not raining, thank the Gods, but the clouds were heavy, and the wind wasn't kind with its onslaught. Jace flew lower, trying to find a place to land his dragon. He eventually came to a small field, not too far from where the funeral was being held.
Once you landed, you slid off the dragon easily, Vermax lending his wing as a stepping tool for you. Jace landed behind you with less help from the dragon. He took your hand in his, making sure you were alright. He was wearing all black riding clothes, and over it a black jacket with fur that kept his neck warm in the wind of the Stormlands and the height of the sky. You had worn a dress, despite the ride on dragon-back. It left your collar bones exposed and made the roundness of your belly more prominent. You too wore furs to keep your body warm, not used to the chill of this place. King's Landing was always warm, disgustingly so. Behind you, Vermax settled on the plain grass he sat on, huffing and puffing until he found himself to be comfortable. You smiled at the temperamental dragon, wishing him a silent goodbye.
You and Jace walked down the slight decline of the hill, going to meet Lillith's family that was waiting for you below. The grass was different here than in King's Landing, it was more lush, more green, and it squished with every step, your shoes were now covered in mud. Your heart twinges at the reminder of Lillith's hands wiping away mud from your skin after your night with Jacaerys.
As you came down, her father was the first to meet you. He was tall and lanky. If he was to lift his shirt, his ribs would probably be slightly visible, a reminder of their low status. Lillith had been thicker. At the Keep, she was well fed and kept, her body was pliant and soft, and when you held her, the fat on her body allowed your arms comfort. It was a stark difference now looking at her father, to see him so hauntingly small. From what you remembered Lillith was sending him her salary, it didn't quite add up in your mind.
Next to Lillith's father stood her sister. She looked so much like Lillith. Her hair was just slightly lighter, and had hints of red, it was a tad bit shorter, going just past her shoulders. Her face was a tad gaunt, and her body smaller than Lillith's was. Their height was the same, and their nose, and their lips. When you met her eyes your heart stopped, you saw your best friend in them, dark and stormy like her homeland, looking right back at you.
You ignored both their bows and kind words and walked to the girl. Her eyes were wide, but you didn't care. You hand went to her cheek, and she leaned into your hand, just like her sister. You ran your thumb under her eye, drinking in every touch of her milky skin, drier than Lillith's, but the color the same. Jacaerys stood behind you, looking nervously between you and the girls' father. He seemed shocked, eyes wide and nervous as he looked at you.
