*SAM'S POV*
We were brought down off the roof thanks to the bucket truck and I immediately ran straight to uncle Travis, hugging him tight "Sam, I am so glad you're alright.." He said, holding me while I bawled my eyes out "T-They're dead, uncle Travis.. They're all dead..!" I cried "She's right.. Will, Leah, Sidney, Kerry, Jess, half our college professors.. Heck, half the town.." Joey explained. "Sidney..?" Uncle Travis asked as I nodded. I could tell he wanted to cry, but.. He somehow stayed strong.. "I'm sorry, sir.. Sam.. " Deputy Burke said, giving his condolences.. He was always a good guy. I was glad he was the one watching uncle Travis's back..
I looked back at the building and saw that the fire department were finally able to get the doors off.. It took completely sawing off the hinges, but they got inside.. H-How could someone do this..? Especially people I thought were our friends.. Uncle Travis gave me his coat while the medical team looked over both me and Joey "Is Charlie okay..?" Joey asked "Yes. She's safe at the station with officer Miller. She's how we knew what was going on, you've got a brave girlfriend, son." Deputy Burke answered. See? Everyone thinks those two are the perfect couple.
"You know, I told Sam multiple times to stay away from you, because your little vandal ass was trouble.. But, you proved me wrong this night, Joey.. And for that, I owe you a huge apology. Turns out, you are someone that I am very proud for Sam to have as a friend." Uncle Travis said, making me smile and putting the biggest look of shock on Joey's face I've ever seen "W-Wow.. Thank you, officer Munroe. I never thought I'd hear you say that." Joey told him "Never thought I would either." Uncle Travis replied, his hand sitting on Joey's good shoulder.
"This mean you'll drop my community service duty?" Joey asked "This one time, I will. Just promise me you'll shape up in the future." Uncle Travis answered "You got it, sheriff." Joey replied. I was glad to see those two getting along. That's something I never thought would ever happen. "What's gonna happen now..?" I asked "We'll get you kids to the hospital. You'll get checked out, make sure there's nothing wrong internally, get Joey's arm stitched up.. Then I'm never letting you out of my sight again." Uncle Travis answered "Please don't." I replied. I may never leave the house again..
I couldn't help but think about how different life would have been if I had just put my fear aside and told Kerry how I felt about him.. Honestly, I wish I could go back in time and do this whole day all over again.. I would never have gave Kerry that stupid invitation.. He would've been at home working on his bike.. Jess wouldn't have went batshit crazy.. Leah and Will would be engaged by now.. I would've still had a sister.. This is all my fault..
"Hey! Get a bus! We've got a live one!" Paramedic 1 yelled as he and his partner pushed a gurney out of the building. I immediately stood up, hoping I could see who it was.. Sidney..? "Report?" Paramedic 2 asked.. I didn't know their names, okay? "We followed a blood trail and found him in the hallway. Looks like he had been crawling towards the stairs to get to the rooftop. Single stab wound to the abdomen." Medic 1 answered.. Male..?
Did someone get Ethan while he was making a break for it? "Is he conscious?" Medic 2 asked as they got the gurney to the waiting ambulance "In and out. He's lost a lot of blood." Medic 1 answered.. Should I be listening in? Probably not. Was I gonna? Oh, yes. "Did you get a name while he was conscious?" Medic 2 asked "Kerry Bennett." Medic 1 answered. "K-Kerry..?" I said to myself, honestly not believing what I was hearing. H-He was alive.. I had to see him.. Though, the main question was this.. Would he even want to see me..?
