*Kerry's POV*
I sat on our front porch, soaking wet. Water dripping down the ends of my hair. I hate my sister. "Bye, Leah!" I heard Jessica's voice yell "Bye, Jess! Bye, Ethan! We'll definitely have to do this again sometime" I heard my sister's voice from down the driveway as she ran up to the porch "Bout time you got home." I said before she saw me "Kerry? What are you doing out here? Why are you so wet?" She asked "I'm wet because my bike ran out of gas and I had to push it two miles in the rain because apparently that $20 I gave you for gas was used for something else." I answered. Thankfully, dad had a can of gas in the garage so I filled it up when I got home.
"...Why are you out here?" She asked, trying to change the subject "I didn't have my key and somebody didn't put the spare under the mat." I answered before standing up. "Well, where is your key?" She asked, crossing her arms "Last time I saw it, it was around Sam's shoulders when I was giving her a ride home because you and Jess left her sitting alone at the fountain." I answered. Leah sharply inhaled through her gritted teeth and made a face "I, um.. I forgot we were supposed to be meeting her there.." She answered. Liar.
"Was she upset?" She asked "Upset? I had to stop under a bridge because the road was too bad to drive on and I was afraid someone would hit us, we talked and she actually cried to me because she thought you guys did it on purpose." I answered "Fine, I'll apologize to her!" Leah snapped at me. I won't lie, that actually pissed me off. "Won't mean shit if you aren't sincere about it! Now, open the door. Couldn't get mom and dad to let me in, because they're out for date night." I snapped back, seeing the anger on my sister's face.
Leah opened the door and stormed inside, headed for the stairs before stopping, she didn't even turning around "You know it was Sam who left you that card." My sister told me as I looked at her in complete confusion. "What?" I asked "I spoke with her before class this morning. She asked you to the dance like that because she was too afraid to actually ask you in person, because for some stupid reason, she was scared that you would say no." She answered, running upstairs and slamming the door. Well, shit. Guess I know what I have to do..
I'll talk to my sister in the morning after she's calmed down, right now, I think I need to go talk to Sam. I wrote a note and left it for my parents, telling them where I was going. I mean, why ruin their date night, right? "Mom, Dad, I had to go talk to Sam about something important. No, it couldn't wait. If you need any more information, text me. I've got my phone on me. Love you both. ~ Kerry." The note read. I put it on the fridge and got my keys, walking back outside and getting on my bike before peeling out of the yard.
Sure, it was dark and raining, but you know what? I've driven in worse.
