The hearth at camp glew ever so faintly. It was no longer that bright orange color the humans had seen quite a few nights ago. It looked like it was about to burn out and extinguish, some flames even showing themselves to be the color black. Something told the human fighters this was not good at all (it was quite peculiar in the first place). The demigods were all sulky and depressed. Ethan's condition had obviously affected them all.

Thomas and Katherine had been staying at camp ever since the son of Nemesis arrived in his comatose state. They could not bring themselves to go back to the White Citadel and just visit every day. Thomas felt this especially. Ethan was his best friend, his first friend. He had trusted the son of Nemesis before anyone else. The first demigod he had ever trusted after being rescued from...

He shuddered. He'd rather not think about that.

"You cold?" He felt a piece of clothing get thrown on him, blinding the son of Shiva.

"No. Not really." He removed the clothing from his head, ruffling his hair afterwards. He wasn't bothered as he recognized the voice speaking.

He looked down at it and found it to be a hoodie. He chuckled a bit before peering up at his girlfriend, a smile finding its way to his lips. The action made him realize how long it had been since he last smiled. It had never been the same since Ethan was injured.

"There's that smile I missed." Katherine joked, intertwining her hand with his.

    "This world is messed up."

"Isn't every universe messed up to some extent?"

"How about we go to one of the other universes. Just you and I? We need to get away from this gloom." She let go of the boy's hand and stood up, silently ignoring what her boyfriend said. A big smile could be seen on her face, contradicting her tired eyes.

Thomas felt kind of guilty for not tagging the others along, but he knew his girlfriend was right. He needed it. They needed it.

"We'll call it a date." He responded.

"But let me get on some nice clothes and take a shower first. I can't go into public like this!"

"You're a hypocrite, you know? An absolute hypocrite." Nico playfully punched his boyfriend in the shoulder, but his eyes held a glint of worry in them.

"But I need to take care of Ethan." The son of Apollo snapped back, feeling a few tears starting to form in his eyes.

    He pushed them back.

"Oh my gods, stop making excuses. Now I see why you find me refusing to take a break so annoying. I will start blasting Hamilton music if you don't start snoozing." The son of Hades hissed.

If only they had a Hypnos kid at camp. That would've been pleasurable considering how sleepless majority of them were.

"I'm not gonna sleep." Will countered.

"And that reminds me — I need to check up on Ethan, now. I'm sorry, Sunshine, but I can't live with myself if I don't use my time taking care of him."
