Mahima's POV:

Panic erupted around me. A shrill fire alarm shrieked, its piercing wail drowned out only by the rising tide of screams from the terrified partygoers. The acrid stench of burning carbon, curiously mixed with the cloying perfume of the crowd, filled the air. People shoved and pushed, desperation etched on their faces.

Jagjeet, ever the protector, reacted instinctively. He wrapped a strong arm around me, shielding me from the chaos. A sly smile played on my lips despite the pandemonium. "That's how," I whispered urgently into the earpiece and continued "jagjeet the security cameras". Jagjeet, understanding my plan in a flash, whipped out his phone and with practiced efficiency disabled the security cameras.

We pushed our way through the throng, dodging bewildered and frantic guests. Jagjeet's grip tightened on my hand.

"Careful," he muttered under his breath, his voice barely audible over the din.
"We need to get out of here," I replied, " Bajwa, Lal Singh out" I almost shouted through the earpiece,my voice hoarse over the rising hysteria.

Suddenly, a hand collided with mine, sending a jolt of pain shooting up my arm. Glancing down, I saw a ruby ring adorning the hand, a snarling tiger etched on its surface. Before I could register the face, Jagjeet reacted with lightning speed, pulling me away from the stranger. "Damn!!!! the overprotectiveness of this man" ,I mumbled in frustration

"Who was that?" he hissed, his voice tight with concern.
"I don't know," I admitted, cradling my throbbing hand. "But that ring..." The encounter left a nagging unease in my gut.

The cool night air greeted us as we burst out of the building. Relief washed over me as we reached the designated pick-up point, finding Lal Singh and Bajwa already waiting impatiently in the car.

"Took you long enough," Lal Singh grumbled from the passenger seat, though a hint of relief flickered in his eyes.

We piled into the car, adrenaline coursing through our veins.

"Let's call the fire department," Jagjeet suggested, his voice tight.

I shook my head, a wry smile on my face. "No need, Jagjeet. There's no fire."

Disbelief clouded his features. "What? Then why the..."

"It was a distraction," I interjected, cutting him off. "A way to get us out of there discreetly."

Jagjeet's jaw clenched. "How did you manage this?"

"It's a long story," I replied, my mind racing. A satisfied smirk tugged at my lips as a memory surface

*Flashback*

Two days before the mission

we sat huddled in our meeting room, strategizing our exit from the Alphinstone party.

"Ideally, we blend in and walk out unnoticed," I explained, tracing a finger across a map of the Alphinstone estate. "But if things get complicated..." Bajwa asked

"What then?" Lalsingh rumbled, a hint of worry in his voice.

"leave that to me , my team will be out of there unharmed" , I assured them

Lalsingh and Bajwa exchanged skeptical glances.

Jagjeet, on the other hand, seemed intrigued and worried "are you sure? , he questioned
