"No."
I sighed for the umpteenth time, hearing my papa give his final answer for the 5th time in three days.
I had finally grown the balls; as Hernando would say, to ask my lovely father to allow me to join a shipment track in Italy for 6 months, but we all heard his response.
"Papa!" I whined. "I'm eighteen and I'm the next in lead for Rey De Reyes, I can not not know how the shipments are going." My eyes were all puppy doe ones but my hard knuckled father simply shook his head.
His hands in his pocket, his silver like eyes that I inherited from him, darting to my mother's brown ones before he shook his head even vigorously. "Absolutely, not."
"Papa, pl-"
"Your pleases will not make me change my decision, dove. You're just eighteen, you can't possibly expect me to send you to Italy; the land of our rivals. Do you take me for a fool?"
"Papa, you know I don't. It's the fact that I want a vacation and- and I can take Hernando with me. He'll protect me-" he rolled his eyes at that. "-papa please!"
"Hernine, for the final time it is. No." I flung my hand in the air, absolutely irritated as this conversation is going nowhere.
My red lips smacked in irritation for the ridicule amount of time again.
"Dove, go to bed, it's getting late. You have to be early tomorrow." My mama spoke out making me sigh as I got her undertone message.
I looked over at her when papa was too busy cursing the world to have his baby daughter all grown up and gave her a desperate look for all to have her give me a nod.
I smiled a bit knowing mama will convince him. You don't underestimate the power of Aera Acetta.
My footfalls fell behind, echoing in the night of the mansion's stairs as I trotted upstairs.
Meanwhile,
"Aera. Don't you dare give me that look."
"Amor, shut the fuck up and listen to me." Zemen rolled his eyes at that.
"We'll send Juan and Judo with her, plus Hernando is there. It's better for her to know the links around our mafia soon enough, we can never be too cautious in this mafia, with or without going to Italy, if it's meant to happen it will."
Zemen threw his head back on the couch behind him as he and Aera sat together, their hands intertwined.
Before Zemen could shake his head and give his favorite answer, Aera gave him a quiet kiss on his cheek.
"Think of all the fun we can do, without them here." Zemen peeked his one eye open seeing the smirk on his wife's face and rolled his eyes playfully at her.
"I'll think about it." She kissed his cheek and quickly got off the couch, straightening up.
"You're so gullible." She laughed and there he was staring at her with a far off look on his face, his mouth curled upward in a smile.
Back to Hernine;
I threw open the gate to my twin brother's room to find him in his boxers, checking his muscles out in the mirror.
What. The. Fuck.
"Really baby brother?"
If you think he was startled, think again cause this man right here probably heard my footsteps from a mile away. Perks of having a good sensed training.
Just like everyone in the Acetta family.
"Check out my hardwork in the gym, Nine."
I smiled mockingly at him, and he turned to me. "You have that fucking sad look on your face that you know I don't like." I rolled my silver eyes, heavenward.
"Papa is saying no to letting us go to Italy, Hernando. I tried everything." I flopped on his bed like an eagle and soon regretted that as he softly punched my stomach, making me groan.
Brothers. Always wanting to show of their boxing skills.
"Does mama know?" I nodded and laughed when I saw the goofy look on his face.
"Then know that papa is defo saying yes tomorrow morning at breakfast." We both laughed hard at that.
••••••
"Okay fine but I-"
"Eeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!" Hernando and I abruptly stood up, off the breakfast table not caring if our chairs fell, too busy in squealing and cheering.
"Fuck yeah!" I yelled.
"But!" We all quiet down. "Juan and Judo are going with you including sixty of my men, with expectancy of you both having wearing your family rings to let us know your where abouts twenty four seven. Absolutely no getting wasted. Absolutely no boys-" papa looked at me. "And abso-fucking-not-lutely will you stay there for more than a day above the 6 months mark."
Us twins blinked at papa. Mama just sitting there, sipping her tea as if she didn't make papa agree.
"Do we have a deal, you trouble makers?"
Glancing at each other sideways, Hernando and I said at the same time. "Si, lìder!" (Yes, leader)
Papa rolled his eyes and went to pick his mug up, but too late cause I attacked him with my bear hug.
Kissing his cheek I spoke. "Thank you, I won't disappoint you." He smiled at me, kissing my forehead.
"Have fun" he grumbled and I giggled, winking at mama.
This is going to be fun.
