Cameron's POV
The next morning, Wesley never came to breakfast. I took that as his sign that he was mad, so I drove to school by myself. He didn't meet me at my locker either, but Nathan did.
"So I was wondering if you'd want to go to my party after the game on Friday? My parents are going out of town," he informed me.
"Could I bring some friends?"
"Sure, as long as you don't bring a date," he winked. I giggled a bit and assured him I'd be there. I went to first period, only to be ignored by Wesley. I sat by him, and I tried to talk to him, but he wouldn't budge. He's being childish, but it's how he shows me he's mad.
Second period was the same, so I decided I'd fix it at lunch. I didn't mean to blow him off last night. He can't possibly think I'm ditching him for Nathan. Even if I did start dating Nathan, there's no way I'd ever kick Wesley out of his spot in my life. We'd always be best friends and he knows that.
Lunch came around, and Nathan wanted me to sit with him. I told him I was going to sit with Wesley and my normal group, but he was welcome to join. He didn't, thankfully. I went and sat across from Wesley with Haley, Callie, Keaton and Zac surrounding me.
"Wesley Trent Stromberg, you're my best friend, so start talking to me," I whined, tired of him being immature.
"Why isn't he talking to you this time?" Haley, my best friend, asked jokingly.
"I forgot to text him last night. I was hanging out with Nathan, and I lost track of time, so I just went straight to bed," I explained.
"I thought you were doing a project. Not hanging out," he muttered. I gave him a glare and rolled my eyes. I kept wondering why he cared so much. I know it was just our thing to text each other at night, but it seems like he's more mad about me being around Nathan than the text.
"All we did was go get something to eat after we worked on the project, okay? You know you'll never get your spot in my life taken, Wes. You'll always be number one, promise," I cheekily told Wesley. His lips formed into a smile.
"Sorry, Cam. I was just in a bad mood last night, and you not texting me because you were with Nathan added to it," he managed to say without sounding annoyed.
"Get a room you two," Keaton groaned. I playfully smacked his arm and ignored him.
"So, do you guys wanna go to a party this Friday after the football game?" I asked.
"Sure, whose party?" Haley asked.
"Nathan's," I mumbled, hoping Wesley wouldn't catch it.
"I'm out," Wesley said immediately.
"You're coming, Wes. What if something happened to me, and you weren't there to save me? I'd be all alone," I pouted teasingly. He sighed and agreed to come.
"Wesley, you're so whipped," Zac mumbled under his breath, making everyone laugh, except Wesley of course. It's true, Wesley would honestly do anything for me. I can't say much, though, because I would probably do just about anything for him, too.
The end of the day came pretty fast. I gathered my books and headed out to my car. It was parked right by Wesley's, who was standing there waiting for me to come out.
"Hey, can I come over today? Or you still mad?"
"You-" Wesley was interrupted by someone yelling towards us.
"Hey, Cam, do you want to work on our project and tutor me tonight?" Nathan butted in, jogging over and leaning up against my car. I looked nervously over at Wesley. He rolled his eyes and waited with his arms across his broad chest to see my response. I looked down at my feet and back up at him.
"I already have plans, Nathan. I'm sorry! Maybe tomorrow?"
"Sure, cutie," he winked. A blush crept upon my face as he turned away.
"My names Cameron," I corrected jokingly. He nodded and walked away.
"I'm coming over whether you like it or not, now," I sassily said to Wesley. I drove home, and Wesley picked me up. We did homework and hung out with Keaton and Drew for awhile.
"I'm getting hungry. We should order a pizza," Keaton suggested. Everyone else was hungry as well, so we ordered a pizza. We ate while watching TV. It was starting to get late, so I was about to leave, but Wesley stopped me.
"You should stay, please," he begged, pulling me back down on their couch. We stayed together quite often over the years, but recently we hadn't because of our busy schedules.
"And why's that?" I smirked, looking over at him.
"Because I miss you, and it's getting late, so you don't need to drive home now."
"You miss me? You see me everyday at school, Wesley! You're so clingy," I joked.
"But seeing you outside of school is different. I miss hanging out with you. I miss our old sleepovers. You know what I mean. I might be clingy, but I'm only clingy to my best friend," he chuckled.
"Ugh, okay," I agreed, chuckling along with him. He knew I loved staying with him, and he didn't even have to ask me to stay because most of the time I invite myself anyways. We went up to his room, and I borrowed some of his sweats and a shirt that were both very big on me. I snuggled into his side when he got into bed with me. I missed staying with him.
"I love you so so so much, Wesley. You're the best, and I'm still super sorry about yesterday."
"Love you too, Cam, and it's alright. As long as I'm not being replaced," he chuckled lightly. Before I drifted off to sleep, I felt his warm lips press softly against my forehead.
