Cameron's POV

As I walked back into hell with Wesley on Monday, I tried to keep clear of Nathan and Haley. I didn't want drama at school, nor did I even want to face either of them.

"Let's go to first period early. I don't want any chance of seeing- shit hurry up, let's go," I quickly said to Wesley when I spotted Nathan walking towards me. We both took off in a fast pace walk to Mr. Kellerman's. How stupid was I to forget I still had to work on the project with him?

"Wait, Cameron! Can you please just listen to what I have to say?" He begged.

"Look, dude, she doesn't want to see you. Just leave her alone," Wesley butted in between us. I smiled at the ground knowing Wesley was always there to stand up for me.

"Why don't you let her talk for herself. Please, Cam?"

"You heard Wesley," I muttered. He sighed and walked to his seat. I giggled to myself a bit at his regret.

"Thanks, Wes." He smiled and took a quick glance back at Nate. He had his head laying down on his desk.

"You might cause me an ass beating at practice later, so you're lucky I love you," he chuckled. There he goes again fooling me with that word love. He loves me as a friend, nothing more, I had to keep reminding myself.

Nathan nor Haley bothered me the rest of the day. Or so I thought. As I walked out to my car by myself, Nathan was standing there waiting for me. I leisurely walked towards him, not knowing if I should wait for Wesley or not. Why won't he get the hint that I don't want to speak to him?

"Cameron! Don't walk away, please," he pleaded as I was about to turn around to find Wesley.

"Why shouldn't I? You slept with my best friend! I was actually starting to like you, Nate. Was this because I wouldn't do it at your party, huh? If that's all you wanted, why are you still trying to talk to me," I angrily argued.

"It's not all I wanted, Cameron. I'm not like that. Haley just showed up at my house, and she-"

"Did you have sex?"

"Yeah, but-"

"Our conversation is done," I smiled sarcastically.

"You're the first girl I've ever actually liked, Cam. I'm sorry I was a douche and had to ruin that. You really didn't deserve it. You're a great girl. And whether you like it or not, we still have Kellerman's project, and I recall someone telling me they'd tutor me. So, see you tonight," he added. I rolled my eyes as he walked away glumly. Why did he have to add those sweet words and make me feel bad about what happened?

Wesley finally came out and got his stuff for practice. He gave me a quick hug and went back to the football field. I didn't have a lot of homework, so I decided to stay and watch him.

I've only watched him practice like five times, but I get so mesmerized by his body. He's so toned, and he does everything so naturally. When he takes his helmet off, he's all sweaty, but it's actually kind of cute. He always does this thing where he shakes the sweat out of his hair.

"You stayed today?" Wesley asked, breaking my thoughts. I looked up at him and realized they were done.

"Yeah, to watch you," I smiled. He was all sweaty, and he stunk, but that didn't stop him from slinging his arm around my shoulders as we walked to the car.

"You're putting that smelly shit in the trunk, Wes," I laughed as I detached myself from him. I opened the driver side door and popped the trunk for him.

"You know that smell turns you on," he joked.

"Only in your dreams," I teased back. He came around and hopped in the passengers seat. I started driving, and we stopped to grab something to eat before we actually went home.

"So what are your plans for tonight?"

"I guess Nathan and I are working on our project," I rolled my eyes.

"Do you want me to come over, so you're not alone with him?"

"I think I can handle him by myself, but keep your phone on you incase I need backup," I chuckled. We finished eating and headed back out to the car. He pulled a CD out of his book bag and put it in the player.

"You're the first to hear all the stuff I'm making, so I wanted to keep it that way. We finished it last night," he grinned when the first track started. I listened intently, sitting in the parking lot for awhile. His voice is so mesmerizing, and it's even better in person. I don't know why, but it's hard for me to get him to sing for just me. He doesn't have a problem showing me CDs and tracks of him singing, but it's like he's insecure when it's raw and right in front of me. In my opinion, it's always better, though.

"They're all great, Wesley! You're seriously going to do such amazing things with your voice, and I can't wait to support you with everything you do! I can't believe I have such a talented best friend. Like what the heck am I? I can't even talk without sounding horrid," I laughed at myself. He shook his head at him while smiling. We decided to head back to my house, and he left shortly after. All I kept thinking about was how dreadful tonight would be with Nathan.
