Cameron's POV
As soon as we got back, Wesley and Drew bombarded us with enthusiasm. They explained to us that they were going to play a concert tonight at the beach, and they had to rehearse now.
"You can come down and watch us," Wesley told me.
"I was going to whether I had permission or not, but thanks," I laughed. He shook his head and pecked my cheek, guiding me along to the basement where they practice. They got out their guitars and drums and started playing. I was so mesmerized by Wesley's voice. It was so powerful and angelic. He would occasionally glance over at me and smile while pouring his heart into the words he was delicately singing. They practiced until it was time for them to head to the beach and set up.
"I think I'll go home and come back later with Cal and Hales. I don't want to be a tag along getting in the way," I told Wesley as they were packing up.
"Are you sure? You won't be in the way," he assured. I nodded my head. As much as I love being with him, I know he'll get annoyed eventually, so it's good to spend time apart.
"I'll be back, front row, promise," I said, holding my pinky out, waiting for him to connect his with mine. He locked our pinkies and pulled me to his chest, planting a kiss on my smiling lips. I said my goodbyes and walked home. I didn't live far from the beach, just like I didn't live far from both Callie and Haley. It's rare that both of your best friends live close to you, but it is the greatest thing ever. I walked to Haley's house first. Her parents are almost never home. They're always at their get away house in the Dominican Republic. Haley's been taking care of herself since she was like fifteen.
"Hal?! You home?" I hollered, walking in the already opened door. She was in the kitchen getting a glass of water. "The boys have a concert at the beach in like an hour! Let's go get Cal and go," I insisted.
"But Nathan's coming over," she whined.
"But Nathan can kiss my ass. You're coming! Tell him to meet you there." I dragged her out the door and down the street to Callie's. When we gathered Callie with us, we headed back to the beach. There was twenty minutes until the boys actually played, but I wanted to keep my promise of being front row. When we got there, I saw Wesley talking to Natalie near the back of the stage. I couldn't help but feel jealous.
"Girl, I would go over there," Haley encouraged. I studied them a bit longer.
"If he's smart, he won't push it," I said, smiling through gritted teeth.
"Suit yourself, but I'm going to say something to him," she insisted, running towards him. I saw her pull Wesley away from Natalie and say something to him. He looked over towards me and smiled. I waved and blew him a kiss. He left Natalie and walked over to where I was standing.
"You're the only girl in my heart, okay? Remember that," he whispered, kissing the side of my head when he engulfed me in a hug.
"Awe, you two were made for each other," Callie cooed. We chuckled at her, shaking our heads in unison. It was finally time for the boys to start, and the beach was getting packed. As people heard them, more people joined in the crowd. Everyone loves a good beach concert. Wesley would look at me when he sang, smiling his million dollar smile every time. The one where his eyes sparkle, and his smile lines are deeply defined. It was my favorite. It made me grin and feel all giddy.
"Here's our last song of the night," Keaton announced. They blasted Sunset Boulevard, their most popular original. Everyone was bumping along to it until it winded down. The boys flew off stage, all sweaty and hyped up. Wesley planted a sloppy, sweaty kiss on my cheek when he came down to us. If it were any other boy, I probably would have pushed them away in disgust.
"Let's get home, sweaty boy," I told him, slinging my arm around his waist.
"I was actually going to hangout with the guys tonight. Is that okay? If you want me to stay, I will, though," he informed me. I felt upset. I would miss him in my presence while I sleep, but I can't keep him from his friends when he has spent all this time with me already.
"Nah, I've been holding you back. Go have fun with them! You don't need my permission," I insisted. He smiled and thanked me.
"If you need anything at all, though, don't hesitate to text me! I'll miss you," he said before we said our goodbyes and kissed. I walked home by myself, thinking about everything that's been going on in my life. How I haven't been this happy in so long. Of course he's always made me happy being best friends, but it's so much different with all of this love and affection. It's way better than I'd ever imagined a relationship with Wesley would be. When I got home, I threw on Wesley's hoodie that still had his scent of cologne on it. I climbed into my now empty bed, and it felt abnormal sleeping alone. It's crazy how much time we've spent together these last couple weeks. He has kept me company for so long that I'm used to it. I tried to close my eyes and fall asleep without the presence of my amazing boyfriend.
