Lieutenant Hannah Henson looked up her mounds of paperwork at Detective Faith Lane who stood cockily in front of her cluttered desk. The bane of her life. If she wasn't as good a cop as she was she would be fucking out of this unit faster than her cute ass could bounce, Hannah thought as she leaned back in her chair. She had a lot of closed cases under her already. Well except for those drug overdose cases that were probably connected to Bullet Lane. Hannah narrowed her eyes at the mental mention of that name. She should probably yank those cases away from the woman with the family connection. She was good though. Good but reckless.
" IAB clear you? ," she asked with thinned lips and cold blue eyes. She still was pissed over the shooting death of the kidnapping suspect Lonnie Hawkins. Yes. The man had kidnapped the fiance of a rich lawyer but Lane should have called it in. If it had went wrong there could have been more dead bodies including the victim and the lawyer. She was damn lucky the two men had gone to the wall for her ass. Damn lucky.
Faith nodded. " Yes , Ma'am. I'm cleared for active duty. Jacks said he was getting a new partner? "
Hannah nodded briskly. " Yes. That's really why I asked you in here. Department has some shitty new scheme, I mean plan where they shake shit up that don't need shaking up and move people from unit to unit. Jacks is getting a partner from Sex Crime. Wally Williams. Good man. Hopefully he will rub off on Jacks. "
Faith removed her shades and Hannah noticed that her eyes were a bit blood shot. That was another concern. Too often the woman was coming in hung over. Hannah Henson didn't want drunks on her unit.
" Am I being transferred? "
" Unfortunately no. You're still mine. For now. You're getting a new partner. "
Suddenly there was a brisk knock at the door.
" Enter ," Hannah barked out.
The door opened and in entered another pain in Hannah's life. Detective Nita Browne. The woman who had left her for her former late wife.
" Great timing," Hannah shot out. " Lane, meet your new partner. Nita Browne from Sex Crime. Try to play nice, ladies. "
