Renjun sat there trying to hide the look of disgust on his face as his uncle went on talking about the upcoming banquet.
He was absolutely appalled by the idea that his uncle even wanted to go along with this. He knew for fact this was something that his father fought hard at annihilating during his time as emperor. The basic selling of these young girls who wanted nothing more than a higher education or freedom from their tyrant parents and here he was offering him up as lambs for slaughter.
He couldn't even try to bring himself to look at his younger brother. Knowing fully well that if he was sold over that he was either be drunk or high off of whatever the hell his uncle was providing him with.
Anyone with even a slight amount of common Sense can tell that Jiahao was not fit to being emperor. Then again he was absolutely positive that anyone would have common sense could tell that his uncle was clearly sending the kingdom to ruin yet no one seemed to want to do anything about it.
He knows it was quite hypocritical of him to feel that way about others when he himself could try to do something. Yet he was so tired his entire life he has done nothing but fought for the kingdom tried his hardest to make sure that they would have a good leader knowing that none of his older brothers were interested in the throne and his younger brother is too young to start training. His entire life had been put aside the only good thing he had was his beloved and even she was taking away for him thanks to his uncle's greed.
Why couldn't someone else for once try to protect the kingdom. How stupid and foolish could his older brother speak do they truly think that if their Uncle continued on this path that it wouldn't affect them their families their loved ones their careers?
He knew that technically speaking he could still say something do something. But for once in his life he wanted to be selfish he wanted to not have to be the one to save everyone else. He had warned his father told him about the things that Zixin claim to have heard and dreamed of. His little brother had the exact same type of dreams that his mother did ones that seem to always come true. Many believe that empress have been a prophet of some sort though she never truly shared any of her dreams or thoughts unless they were things that she knew could be prevented.
It desperately begged his father to make him the one in charge if something should go wrong. Reminding his father that if something went wrong it would be their Uncle who would have to take over being emperor until he deemed Renjun fit enough to take over the throne which may never happen.
But his father had ignored him telling him nothing would go wrong. Claiming that even if it did he shouldn't have to worry cuz he would only have to wait a year. As his great great grandfather had made it a rule that no ruler should be under the age of 26 finding that they were not mentally mature enough to truly tackle and take on the responsibilities. Yet Renjun reminded his father that he had been training for this his entire life that there was no one more ready regardless of age to take over than himself and that would be only temporary. As they had already talked about it and so his father was truly ready to step down which wouldn't be for at least another 10 or so years. So the only be a temporary thing until his father I'd come back but he refused to listen and now this is where they were at.
He couldn't help but allow for his eyes to flick over towards Liang & Chyou he couldn't help the sarcastic smile on his face as the two of them grew white and pale. As they listen to their Uncle not only describing what was going to happen but the fact that they're young son of only eight was to be there that they wanted him to intermingle with the other young girls who would be up for auction basically along with the noble woman who would be bringing their young daughters there.
He had to stop himself from downright sneering and scoffing at them do they truly think that their Uncle would leave their children alone. While he felt slightly bad for them he couldn't help but to sit there and wonder would they do anything now or will they allow for their Uncle to play his political games with their child. If anything they should be more worried about the child in Chyou's womb so if it's a daughter there's no doubt in his mind that his uncle would not be the first to sit there and arrange some marriage to the poor princess and whatever nobleman is the highest bidder or possibly to even do what was done to his mother take the child away from them sending her off to one of those all girls schools that did nothing more than brainwashing teach the women that they raised to be nothing more than sex workers and housekeepers.
