Feeling the heated rays of the sun hit my face, I let out an airy sigh as I look at the designated restaurant. I know Marcus had arrived before me, but I've been sitting in the car for over 5 minutes trying to figure out how I'm going to go about this whole co-parenting thing.

Seeing Marcus show up at my house triggered all those disturbing memories that I worked so hard to forget. Every time I think about Marcus, I see his huge form thrusting in and out of Myra with passion and love. I see how his friends taunted me and made my situation a laughing stock.

After thinking long and hard, I had to do what's best for my child. It didn't help that Sean has been asking about his father almost every other day. I hope Marcus does right this time because the minute he does something to screw over my child, he can kiss that father-son relationship goodbye, and I mean that in the most humble way.

After getting out of my car, I entered the small but still beautiful cafe, and the smell of nicely cooked food filled my nose. Seeing Marcus sitting there, I could see something in him had changed. It looks like life has been kicking his butt, but I'm not going to laugh at his pain, regardless of our past.

When I walked to our booth, his face lit up, and it was as if me being here made his gloomy day brighten up. Who knew that a man of his caliber could look like such a sad little puppy. We sat in silence for what felt like an eternity; neither one of us knew what to say, and out of nowhere, a loud laugh escaped my mouth.

"I guess I'll start. I know you want to ask me why I did all those things back then. Truth be told, I didn't take our relationship seriously back then. I didn't believe in committing to just one person, so I went to the next best thing. Well, at least that's what I thought. Myra had been doing her best at seducing me when you weren't around, and like a n*gga, I fell for it. When you left, I did a lot of thinking, and I realized it was real fucked up of me to do some stuff like that. I know it's been a while, but it might be too late for us, but I thank you for allowing this meeting so I can be a daddy for our son," Marcus said genuinely.

"Honestly, Marcus, I don't see an 'us.' The damage is already done, and it's time for us both to move on, and that's what's best for Sean. He asked about you all the time, you know. He's a little smart ass, so I knew the minute he saw you, that little big mind of his was going to put two and two together. But don't let my calmness fool you; do what's right, Marcus, because you only mess up one time before I cut you off completely," I said seriously.

"I understand. Again, I sincerely apologize for all the stuff I did back then. You didn't deserve that, Sage, and trust me when I say karma hasn't been too nice. I deserve every bit of it though," he said.

After our conversation, we talked about pretty much everything, and it was nice to see he was a changed man.

Years later, Sage and Marcus were on very good terms. Although the two were now in relationships with other people, that didn't interfere with their friendship. Who knew that after all this time, a child would bring the two back together.
