The gentle music played gently as thirty-year-old Paris wrapped up his everyday morning routine. Paris had a long day of work ahead of him, so he was up along with the singing birds, ready to get the long day over with. Paris rolled his brown eyes when the deafening sounds of his son's deep baritone voice reverberated across the once-quiet house. Paris looked at the spotless mirror and examined his curvaceous body. Sometimes, he couldn't fathom why his butt was so huge; he was a carbon copy of his mother inside and out. After finishing up his routine, he gathered his things and made his way to his son's room, only to hear the yelling get louder the closer he got to his room.
"Good morning, Perry. Care to explain why you are on this game and you haven't done a single chore? You know business before pleasure! Turn that game off and get to stepping, hear?" Paris scolded the thirteen-year-old.
"Aye y'all, I gotta go! My papa tripping," Perry said, running away to evade the upcoming smack to his head.
Rolling his eyes at the childish boy, Paris made his way to the front door, not before saying, "Perry, I know you're getting older, and I know how teenagers are. If I find out you brought some heffa in my house, that's yo ass, understand?" he said, his voice laced with authority.
"Papa, why do you always speak down on me? I ain't bringing no girl in yo house; I know better," the boy said.
"Mhm, okay. I love you. Be safe, boo boo," the thirty-year-old said, giving a kiss to the taller boy.
"Love you too," Perry answered, returning the heartwarming gesture.
The streets were loud and busy, cars scrambling to get to work. "Why is everybody out?" Paris thought to himself, pulling out of his garage. Unbeknownst to Paris, he was being followed. It wasn't long before his nicely cleaned truck pulled up to his job. Once he made it inside, he greeted his coworkers. He chuckled at one of his coworkers speaking ill of her baby daddy. After preparing his station, Paris sat in one of his leather seats, awaiting his first client.
As the day went by, Paris had done a total of 10 heads in the span of nine hours. Quite frankly, he was tired and ready to soak his body in a tub full of steamy water!
"Paris, it's some fine nigga at the front looking for you," Sylvia said, her loud voice echoing across the building.
Paris was done for the day, so who could that be? he thought. As he got closer to the front, he saw a tall figure standing at the front; his back was turned away from him, so he had no idea who the stranger was.
"Hey, I'm Paris. How can I help you?" Paris asked.
The tall figure turned around, revealing the face of the man that shattered his heart years ago. Paris didn't think for a second before his hands flew toward the taller's face.
"""Paris unleashed years of anger and hurt upon the bewildered man. How dare he show his face after what he put him through? It took Paris years to heal from some of the bruises on his body, but some scars remain for life. Paris felt hands pulling him back as he fought the urge to swing at anything in his path. His brown orbs turned toward the tall man who was holding his head back, his large hand covering Paris's nose.
"Damn, lil' bit, you know you pack a punch," Keshawn stated.
That statement made Paris want to beat a hole into the taller man's head; thirteen years later, and the man had the nerve to talk to him as if they were friends.
"I want you to go back where you came from. I don't want to hear anything you have to say. I left you in the past the minute I got on that plane. I've been living a peaceful life, and I'll be damned if I let you ruin it. Take your shit and get the fuck out," Paris said in a calm voice.
"I can't do that, shawty. You and I have unfinished business. Man, I fucked up, but we gotta son, and I want to be in his life," the taller man replied.
Like a mama bear protecting her cub, Paris instantly became defensive; so many thoughts raced through his mind. How did the man know about his son, and just how long had this man been here to even know that? Tears escaped his eyes before he realized it. Paris was angry. Had Keshawn ruined his life? Was the man here to cause chaos? What was this man's motive? Paris thought.
