The smell of musky rain invaded my nose as I approached the familiar mansion. I could hear the leaves crunching under my heels with every step I took. The night was dark and oddly quiet, and I could feel the cold air brush against my face every so often. As I finally made it to the door, I was greeted by my ex-mate's mother, and I could see her face filled with worry.

"Thank you, Bane, for showing up. I know the history between you two, but given the circumstances, you're the only one powerful enough to rid him of whatever it is that resides in him," she said.

Without a response, I gave her a nod to let her continue.

"As an alpha, you make many enemies. It seems Terry has gotten into some trouble with a powerful witch; he nearly destroyed the forest, and we had to take drastic measures to subdue him," she said.

As we walked toward where I assumed Terry was, I could feel the stares of the pack, and I knew some looked at me with pity. My heels clanked against the hard floor as Mrs. Sylvia continued to give me a rundown of what exactly transpired here.

As I stepped into the huge room, I could sense dark magic heavy in the air. As I looked at my ex-mate, his huge, muscled arms were chained, and he was clearly unconscious. I could see a dark purple color filling every vein of his body, and it seemed the magic inside him was growing at a slow pace.

Taking off my warm gloves, I instantly spoke a resistant incantation spell over the chains. I didn't know what he was capable of at the moment, so I would rather not deal with a huge wolf ready to attack anything in its path. I then began to whisper an incantation that reveals the source of the powerful magic.

"Sylvia, the magic inside him is slowly taking over, and although his wolf is putting up a fight, the dark magic will soon dominate. The only way I'll be able to get rid of it is to find the source of the magic. This isn't some regular magic; it's a curse meant to turn him into a feral beast," I explained.

Terry is already powerful enough; if this magic takes over, he will be almost impossible to reach. Sylvia obviously has this unexplained faith in me, so I'll do what I can. The risky thing is if I find the witch who put the curse on him, she or he may sense me trying to find them, and I need them to stay in place so my spell will make this all the more manageable.

"The only thing I can do for now is put a temporary reliever in place that will slow down the magic. I have to find the witch who did this to him; otherwise, the magic will eat him alive," I said to her.

As I focused my magic on Terry, my eyes went as pale as snow as I began chanting the spell. Red energy started to take the form of a big cube around the unconscious Alpha, and once the spell was done, I stepped back and looked at Terry.

"What the hell did you get yourself into?" I asked to no one in particular.
