His words cut through me like a knife.
"well I did." I tell him, anger rising to my face. He runs a hand through his hair, takes a deep breath and starts talking.
"Look... I know I didn't handle that very well. Can we just... talk graciously for a minute? Please?" He says softly.
"fine." I move to the side for him to come in, thankfully the apartment is clean. He takes a moment before coming in, He looks around for a second.
"Thanks for letting me come in."
"welcome." He takes a seat on my beige chair, I sit on the chair across him.
"Right, so... Can we just talk seriously for a minute? No more smartass comments or bickering. Please?" I simply nod agreeing to his request. He takes a deep breath again and continues.
"Okay, good. Thank you. I appreciate that. Look, I just... I need to understand why you're being so difficult. Why can't we just have a normal conversation without you pushing my buttons all the time?"
"We are having a normal conversation like I'm not being difficult I mean I answer all your questions not arguing." He scoffs, honestly he wants to talk like that he can leave,, he keeps saying I'm difficult, I'm hard to deal with, makes me have flashbacks when you know what no I'm not thinking about him right now.
"That's not what I meant. You're acting all compliant and polite now, but we both know that isn't the normal for you. You're usually a pain in my ass, always arguing and pushing my buttons. Why is it so hard for you to just cooperate without making things difficult?"
"listen if you wanna keep saying this you can head on out." He rolls his eyes.
"And there it is. That stubborn, defiant attitude that I'm talking about. Seriously, is it really so hard for you to just have a normal conversation without getting all defensive and confrontational?"
"I'm not getting defensive over something stupid, you don't know anything, so you better keep quiet." He scoffs once again.
"Excuse me? You don't get to tell me to keep quiet. I'm trying to have a conversation with you, and all you're doing is acting like a stubborn ass." This time I scoff. He lets out a frustrated sigh and runs a hand through his hair.
"Fine, fine. I'll take that. I understand that you can't answer everything. But I just wish you would be more cooperative, and less difficult all the damn time. It's exhausting dealing with you sometimes."
"I'll try." He raises an eyebrow.
"You'll try? You're actually going to try to cooperate and be less of a pain in my ass for once?" I simply nod. He lets out a breath.
"Wow, I didn't expect you to agree so easily. Usually, it takes a lot more convincing to get you to cooperate."
"hm." He shakes his head like its unbelievable for me to agree on something, then decides to move on to another topic.
"Okay, well... since you've decided to be cooperative now, there's something else I wanted to talk to you about."
"which is?" I ask. He takes a deep breath, he looks nervous and I'm confused.
"Look, there's something I need to ask you. And I want you to be honest with me, okay? Promise me you'll be honest no matter what."
"promise I guess." I assure him, uncertain if I did the right thing, What will he talk about? I gulp. He takes a moment before speaking.
"Okay, good. Thank you. Look, I just... I need to know something. And it's important that you be completely honest with me."
"okay, but we agreed I might not have answers to everything." He nods.
