[𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐘-𝐓𝐖𝐎]
Flashback, a week ago, Mikaelson compound:
Allison was in the new nursery Klaus had made her. She was sitting on the rocking chair, the calm melody of the morning breeze drifting in her ear.
The warmth of the sun expanded its area to the side of her face, making her every feature glow with more beauty than ever before.
In her hand, she held a pen. A pen to write something with: a letter.
A letter to her daughter.
A heavy rush of heartbreaking deja vu hit her as she moved her pen on the page. Deja vu of when she read the letter her mother wrote to her after she'd died and the sadness she felt while doing so.
She remembered not only feeling sadness but anger too, anger of why she sacrificed herself, of why she didn't try, of why she didn't fight.
But now, now she understood.
She understood her mother's point of view, she understood how she felt when she wrote the letters to her and her siblings — she understood everything.
The pain of being the one to actually fall was far greater than of the one left standing because there was no one there to pick them back up.
The pain of leaving your child alone in the world, the pain of not knowing what's going to happen to them and the pain of never being able to see them again.
Allison always questioned her mother's choice to die for her and the question she asked herself most was: 'did she have a choice?'.
The answer is: no.
She didn't have a choice because she had to save her daughter and give her hope.
Allison understood that now because she was in her position. She knew that if her child was in danger she'd give up her life in a second to save her. It was called a 'mother's instinct'.
She knew that if that moment arrived, she would fall off the ledge in a heartbeat to save her daughter — like Liz did.
It was a mother's duty to protect their child and that was the duty Allison was going to fulfil — even if it was the last thing she did.
Allison was startled when the door creaked open. She was pulled away from her heavy thoughts as she looked up to see her love enter the room.
