29. checkmate, allison

[𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐘-𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐄]

In an abandoned cottage not too far from New Orleans was a very powerful witch with dark hair, crafting a new spell. One which wouldn't fail her this time.

The powerful book she'd stolen some time ago, was laid out in front of her so that she could refer back to it when combining the spells together.

She stared out of the window, a smirk plastered on her lips as she watched a blonde woman pushing a stroller with a baby inside.

A dark chuckle escaped her lips as she watched them wickedly, "Just a while longer until I can take what is mine."

After college was over, Allison returned to the compound and went straight to her room, collapsing on her bed in exhaustion. However, before she could allow herself rest, she had to check up on a certain someone.

"Bex, hey." Allison smiled brightly at her best friend through the FaceTime.

"Ally, what a pleasurable surprise! It's been a while." Rebekah smiled back at her.

"I know, I've been meaning to call but I've just been so busy and-"

"You don't have to lie to me, Ally. Elijah's been keeping me in the loop, however he's appearing to ghost me now."

Allison chuckled awkwardly, readjusting on the bed, "About that..."

"What happened now?" Rebekah sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.

"He's vanished. My money's on Esther."

"Well, that's bloody wonderful." Rebekah scoffed, sarcasm evident in her tone.

Allison decided to change the subject, "So, how's things over there? Is Simone okay?"

"She's doing just fine but I bet she's missing her mummy though. I'm missing her too." Rebekah said, looking down at Simone who was in her stroller.

"I miss her too." Allison said with a heartbroken smile, wanting to be reunited with her daughter.

"Ouch." Rebekah placed a hand over her heart, "You don't need to miss me. It's fine."

Allison chuckled at her antics, "I hope she's being a good girl for you."

"Oh, well in the mornings she's an absolute angel. At night, however, that's a whole other story. It's like it's her life's mission to keep me up and night. It's awful. At this point, I'm reconsidering my dream of settling down and having children of my own."
