Ryan lay on his bed, cradling his newborn daughter, Clarity June Rees, or CJ as they affectionately called her, on his chest. The room was filled with a peaceful silence, only broken by the soft hum of the gentle breaths of Winter who was finally getting some much-needed rest after a long and arduous thirty-six-hour labor.

Ryan couldn't help but marvel at the tiny bundle in his arms. "You're perfect," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "Absolutely perfect."

He traced her delicate features with his eyes, committing every detail to memory. Her tiny fingers curled around his thumb, her little nose twitching slightly as she slept. It was a moment of pure, unadulterated joy. Ryan felt a swell of emotions—pride, love, protectiveness—that he had never experienced before. His heart felt full to the brim, ready to burst.

What would almost be the past year, in a few days had been a whirlwind. Winter had moved in with them after escaping an abusive relationship, and what began as a friendship blossomed into something much deeper. They had both been nervous about admitting their feelings for each other, but the bond they formed was undeniable. Now, here they were, starting a new chapter of their lives with their beautiful daughter.

Ryan glanced over at Winter, who was sleeping soundly. He looked peaceful, a stark contrast to the stress and fear that had plagued him when he first moved in. Ryan was determined to protect him and their new family, to be the partner Winter deserved.

A soft knock on the door drew Ryan's attention. He looked up to see Wyatt, standing in the doorway with a wide smile on his face. "Hey, man," Wyatt said quietly, stepping into the room. "How's our little angel doing?"

Ryan grinned, his heart swelling with pride. "She's amazing, Wyatt. Just look at her." He adjusted CJ slightly, making sure she was comfortable.

Wyatt approached the bed, his eyes shining with joy. "She's beautiful, Ryan. You and Winter did good." He reached out and gently touched CJ's tiny hand, marveling at the life they had brought into the world.

"Thanks," Ryan said, his voice thick with emotion. "I still can't believe she's here."

As if on cue, CJ stirred, her small mouth opening in a silent cry. Ryan's eyes widened as he realized she was ready for her first feed. He looked over at Winter, who was still deep in sleep, and knew it would be up to him to feed her for the first time.

"Uh, Wyatt, could you call the midwife? I think CJ's hungry."

Wyatt nodded and quickly left the room, returning moments later with the midwife in tow. She smiled warmly at Ryan sensing the significance of the moment. "Alright, Daddy," she said kindly, "let's get you set up for her first feeding."

As they moved to the kitchen she guided Ryan through the process of preparing a bottle of formula, explaining each step with patience and care. Ryan watched intently, wanting to get everything just right for his daughter.
