A/N: Yiiiiiiikes- so this one is a total rollercoaster- with a lot of things happening at once and is most definitely a little rocky and difficult to write 😬 I'm currently finishing up and editing this with sick brain as well because my immune system decided to attack me again so if it's rough and there's any spelling or grammatical errors I apologize :(
TW: This chapter contains brief discussions of injuries, brief depictions of anxiety, and graphic depictions of sexual content (smut).

"So... Hazel... Julien tells us you're a violinist?" Sadie began, not wasting any time the moment we sat down at the outdoor table for dinner. A large spread of probably the best southern family grill out you could whip together last minute. Burgers, fries, hot dogs, chips of any and every kind, pitchers of lemonade and... of course, beer that had been already been placed in a cooler. It was just like summer in Feburary.
"Oh ummm... slightly- I guess you could say. I've taken some time off lately because of an injury." I explained with a weak smile as I sipped at my glass of lemonade before watching their eyes turn to worry.
"Oh no, I hope you're doing better now!" Sadie added causing me to nod quickly.
"Oh yeah! Of course, I- I mean, I've kind of been playing nonstop since I could even hold a bow so... it's good to explore other things." I flushed lightly as I caught Julien's little smirk from next to me.
"That's the only reason I haven't taught her a ton on guitar actually... that doesn't mean I don't nerd out about various chord progressions though." Julien added as she placed a soft hand on my thigh to give it a small squeeze.
"Oh! She's one of the best guitar tutors our music program has gotten this semester though. Sometimes I sneak and watch you." My blush only grew causing Julien to laugh as she whipped around to face me.
"Seriously?"
"Yeah, I'm an RA... I'm supervising one of my residents." I teased as I gave her a little nudge with my elbow as Julien only playfully rolled her eyes in response.
"Yeah, I'm sure that's exactly what you're doing." She murmured sarcastically, feeling her soft lips on my cheek as we continued to eat. All the while feeling Julien's leg wrap around mine underneath the table. She didn't seem to mind PDA in front of her parents, nor did her parents which I was grateful for. I felt safer that way, knowing I could at least cuddle up to Julien without worrying about it being too much. Not that I thought it'd go any further that though. "Oh, speaking of music-" Julien began almost nervously with a clear of her throat causing me to perk up. "The boys finally roped me into auditioning for that... local artist showcase that's called an open mic but not really one. Ummm, if I or- at least the three of us as a whole get in would you wanna maybe-"
"Come and see you? Is that even a question kiddo!" Her dad interrupted without a second thought, Sadie grinning as she only echoed her agreement.
"We wouldn't miss it for the world!" She exclaimed before turning her smile to me, "Are you auditioning as well, Hazel?"
