"is it a rumor that you have to be discharged from the hospital in a wheelchair," i ask when the nurse walks in. she gestures to the chair in the hallways and shrugs, "sorry kiddo rules are rules. i have to go double check your paperwork and then you're good to go." she grabs my clipboard and leaves the room.
philip runs into the room, red faced, as usual. i swear he is always running somewhere or another. and his hair always manages to fly in crazy directions. panting he asks me, "your mom gone?" i nod with my eyebrow arching up in question. "good. let's go. cmon, quickly before she comes back," he whispers pulling me up out of bed bridal style.
philip races out of my hospital room and sprints down the hallway in the opposite direction of the exit. "uh this isn't the right waaaaaay," i scream as he slides around a corner. "you're forgetting that i had almost seven hours of free time while you were drugged up. this cool nurse told me about the tunnels that they used while the hallways were renovated," he explains while hoisting me up again.
"i know how much you love to be the hero, but i can walk."
"no way in hell. if you're required to leave in a wheelchair this is the next best thing."
"can't i get in trouble for this?"
"shh, just pretend we're robbers who are trying to escape the police after their latest heist."
"you are not helping. also stop stealing my ally carter books creep."i expect alarms of some sort to start blaring, but nothing happens. you would think a hospital would have better security than this... philip uses my legs to shove the door open, except it's a pull door. "i really am going to need a wheelchair now," i say while he uses his pinkie to open the door.
the tunnels are dark and cramped. it reminds me too much of the street from my dream. philip notices the discomfort on my face and stretches his hand across my eyes. this must be super uncomfortable for him. he races through the tunnels and i try to calm myself by listening to his breathing. i don't understand how alex and my best friend are complete opposites of each other.
i'm suddenly dropped onto the street with a quick, "hop on." i glare at him, "you did not."
"there is no time for this!"
"you brought your fucking razor scooter on your recon mission?!"
"it's only for times of need."
"how do you even plan on getting two full grown people on this??"
"you can sit on the handle bars... i have a helmet."
"i'd rather walk."
"perrin please get on."
"if i die i will see it that you are held responsible."
"i expect no less from you."\\
i love this chapter omg. dialogue is a new thing for this book. i struggle with describing things and dialogue which are two very important components in a story.
philip is my little ray of sunshine and i love him to bits. oh more on cleo in the next chapter.
power writing commences in order to be eligible for watty's and there really is no reason to not write a chapter a day. it's good for the soul.
