Studying, especially in the 9th grade, takes a lot of time. I finished my work around nine o'clock and started reading, although my eyes soon got tired, and then I looked at "Facebook". Social media was full of various articles about medicine and politics. The mood of the New Year did not affect the session of the parliament in the slightest and, as usual, the united opposition demanded the appointment of early elections.
"Reasons and required actions needed when somebody has passed out" - the article popped up right before my eyes.
I wondered if I had done the right thing at that time, and at the same time, I doubted, if he had really fainted that day. I finally decided to open the article:
- Why can one pass out?
Syncope, or brief loss of consciousness, is quite common and has many causes. Some cases are harmless, some are dangerous, but still the reason is a rapid drop of blood pressure, which reduces blood flow to the brain; As a result, a person loses his mind.
- What action is required?
Since loss of consciousness is caused by a drop of blood pressure, it needs to be quickly regulated:
1. Providing oxygen-rich air to the patient;
2. Placing the lower limbs on an elevated place;
3. Calm environment.
-"Man, I'm a genius"- I raised my nose with pride, but a spark of doubt flashed in my mind. If the blood pressure drops, then how was the pulse accelerated?
How?
I decided to ask a question as a comment.
"Hello! I have one question for you: is it possible that the pulse is faster than normal when losing consciousness? (A similar thing happened to my classmate at school, and I wonder if such thing is possible)."
I pressed the Enter button.
The answer did not hesitate.
"Hello, Mary! No, such a thing is impossible. When the blood pressure drops, it does not matter whether the loss of consciousness is a sudden reaction or caused by some pathology, the pulse slows down considerably. It is possible that your classmate pranked you. Thanks for reading!"
Unfortunately or fortunately, my doubts were cleared. It also turned out to be a lie.
I took the phone.
- Hello, is that you, Gabriel?! - I was furious.
-Yes. And why are you calling in the middle of the night? You seem to be mad.
- I have two reasons. I don't think I will get a positive answer, but we are organizing a small party at home tomorrow and I want to invite you.
- I will come.
- Really?
- Yes, if you want me to.
- I don't know... I'm surprised.
- Why? I'm not a jerk.
- Are you lying to me?
- No.
- Should I believe you?
- Have I ever lied to you, Mary?
- Yes, this morning.
- It was a small test.
- What test! Are you stupid?
- Mary, in the last two years, I changed four schools and played this little performance everywhere, but nobody cared except for the teacher, who was simply obliged by duty to pay attention.
- You are a fraud. A literal fraud!
- Then why did you invite me to your New Year's Eve party?
- I don't know... Be here at nine.
- I won't be late.
- You are a bastard.
- Well...
- Shut up! - I couldn't help myself and laughed.
- Alright, see you tomorrow!
- Good, - I hung up and fell on the floor. - Fantastic!
However, I was afraid to admit that I was enjoying it.
