The silence reigning in the classroom made it even more difficult to breathe the air rich in carbon dioxide and deafened the ears with its silence. The sight of a blond, tall, 14-year-old boy made the whole class shut up and disappointed, especially the football players.
Gabriel, wearing a button-up blue shirt and blue jeans, stood motionless.
- Children, meet your new classmate Gabriel! - The tutor addressed us, however, despite her enthusiasm-filled expression, no one had the desire to jump up one by one and introduce themselves as if nothing had happened.
The air became heavy.
Elena stood up and looked at the guest full of contempt.
- Hello, I'm Elena, the smartest student in the class. Is it clear?!- spelled she as if she was speaking to a 1-year-old toddler.
She only got a nod in response.
It was Guga's turn.
"Hello, my name is Guga," he said and sat down.
In response, he nodded his head again.
Exactly 2 minutes and 53 seconds later, it was my turn.
I couldn't get up from the desk, as if a thousand iron chains were holding me so that I wouldn't move even a millimeter from the chair. I broke out in a cold sweat...
At last, I broke the restraining bonds and moved my tongue. I was paralyzed by fear, although I tried my best not to express my awkwardness. I exhaled and uttered:
- Hi, My name's Mary. I draw and sing sometimes.
I sighed in relief and sat down.
All of a sudden, a low, pleasant voice rudely addressed me:
- Hello, Mary.
I shuddered imperceptibly and decided not to pay attention to this strange situation, which was quite difficult, even impossible, when twenty-nine of the thirty desks were occupied, and the only free seat was next to me. It shouldn't have been hard to guess what was waiting for me.
I calmed my heart down and took a deep breath.
"Shit", that was the only word that came to my mind.
"Nothing has changed, absolutely nothing.", I was repeating to myself continuously, not even noticing that anything actually was happening in my brain.
What was soooo special about this event? Wasn't I saying, that this was one of the most dull things, happening almost every month?!. What was bothering me so much?..
