Chapter 46
"You're awake?"
Mr. Lim greeted us as soon as we arrived at the mansion. I was surprised to see him standing, especially after what happened to him. I didn't expect him to recover so quickly. But it was a relief to see him awake and okay now.
"I'm sorry for the trouble I caused," he said seriously, making Hiroki and me looked at each other.
Is that what happened when you almost died?
"How are you feeling right now?" Hiroki asked, changing the topic and mood. We're not used to seeing Mr. Lim like this. He's usually jolly and loud, not calm and dramatic.
"I'm okay now. Just a slight headache nalang." He said.
I'm not saying I don't trust him, but I looked to Ryker, who was the one who properly checked on him. I need to make sure and hear from him about Mr. Lim's current condition. If he's okay now or needs more rest.
"The antidote has successfully neutralized the drugs in his system. He is showing no adverse reactions, and his vital signs are back to normal. He is now stable and can resume his regular activities after a brief observation period. Continuous monitoring is not needed, but make sure he does not use drugs again because his body may not handle it next time. The drug used on him had very strong effects." Ryker really sounds like a doctor. I was amazed by him. He was really good. Maybe I should ask him to join us?
Speaking of those drugs...
The development is still ongoing to achieve perfection, but even at this stage, it already exhibits strong effects. Once it reaches completion, what outcomes can we expect more?
It will become a dose, then. A drug can bring about instant death.
"We need to destroy those drugs. They cannot be marketed on the underground market as they would pose significant risks and consequences." Mr. Lim spoke, facing all of us. He's very serious right now. Maybe he doesn't want to have more victims.
"What do we do, then? Become heroes in the underground world, you're saying? Because they're not aware of the possible effects of the drug? Is that what you want?" I arched an eyebrow.
"Then, do you want to market the 'antidote' you used on me to make money?" My eyes narrowed as I sat on the couch, legs crossed, looking directly at him. I can't believe he said that. But I somehow understand his point and where his anger is coming from. "I'm... sorry," he also added and looked down.
"You can't just destroy those drugs because you want to. All mafias, including us, engage in illegal activities. Now, let's say you destroy them, but what about other organizations that also market drugs? Are you going to stop them all?" I am also trying to make him understand my point. "But eliminating the Hernandez Organization means destroying those drugs. Besides, we have the original formula," I added, which made him looked back at me with a furrowed eyebrow.
"What do you mean?"
"We raided their main hideout where they were also making and experimenting with their drugs on different humans, and that's when we took the original formula," Hiroki began to explain to him. "Besides you, many are imprisoned there, and they use them for experiments with that drug. Some of them have died, some are confused, and others are asking for help."
"What did you do to the other victims? Did you...?"
"Did we kill them?" I continued what he wanted to point out. "Is that what you're trying to say, Mr. Lim?" I arched an eyebrow again.
"No, I mean..." he sighed. "I'm just curious about what you did to them... and if you were able to see Theron and Camille there."
"And what if we do?"
