ch 23

it is now monday, your first day of school. the letter also read that you would receive your uniforms at school on your first day, so you needed to get there early in order to get acquainted.

you walk to school at 7 am even though school starts at 8 am. you make your way to Principal Nezu's office and get your uniform before walking to the locker room. even though you did get lost, you were still able to change before school started.

when you walk into Class 1-A you are met with the entire class chatting to each other. there's still 5 minutes until school starts, so you feel somewhat out of place.

you look around at the students talking until your eyes meet Shoto's. he's waving at you to go over to him so you do.

as you walk over, you say hi to a few of the students who you saw over the weekend.

"hey! how do i look?" you do a little twirl, showing Shoto your uniform.

"you look like you belong in this class" he said matter-of-factly.

you roll your eyes. as soon as you do, you feel someone's arm drape across your shoulder.

"hey y/n! you look great in that uniform" Denki says with a wink.

"oh thanks" you smile and blush. you weren't expecting the compliment.

"you look totally adorable!" Mina says and holds your hand.

Shoto glared at the scene happening next to him. he doesn't understand why, but seeing Denki's arm around you made his stomach churn.

"alright class everyone sit down" you hear Mr. Aizawa interrupt.

"looks like you're aware that we have a new student, y/n l/n" Aizawa asks and points to the back of the class. all eyes are suddenly on you.

you give a little wave. "hi everyone! thanks for fighting against me last week. you're all so talented!" you say with a big smile.

you look over and see Mina give a big wave at you so you give a little wave back.

"alright well there is an open seat in the back. you can sit next to Todoroki" Mr. Aizawa says then immediately goes into the lesson.

it's now lunchtime, so you look over to Shoto and open your mouth to ask what he's going to do for lunch. as soon as you do, your view is suddenly shielded by what feels like the entire class.

"y/n you should totally eat lunch with us!" Kirishima says with his arm draped around Bakugo.

"get off me loser!" Bakugo yells and slaps Kirishima's hand away.

"yeah y/n. it'll be fun to get to know you more!" Sero says while standing next to you.

during lunch you sat with the bakusquad and listened to them talk about the randomest things and basically bully each other for 30 minutes straight. it was awesome.

every once in a while you would look over to Shoto's table, and you caught him look away a few times since he's been staring at you.

after lunch you walked back to class with your new friends and sat down at your seat. Shoto sat down shortly after and was nervously tapping his leg.

"are you okay? nervous about something?" you ask Shoto.

Shoto simply shook his head, never making eye contact with you.

you were a little confused but figured that he didn't want to talk about it in public.

you found out during the rest of class that the students all passed their final exams and winter break would be coming in a few weeks, which made the class cheer in excitement.

the bell rang to signal that school was over and as soon as it was, Mina, Kirishima and the others bombarded you about what you were doing after school.

"oh, um. i'm just going to walk home. thanks though! i'll see you tomorrow!" you say and run out of the classroom to catch up with Shoto.

"hey!" you say when you catch up and then lightly hit his arm. "you didn't wait for me" you say with a frown.

"i thought you would want to hang out with your new friends" Shoto says, having a hard time looking over at you. he knows that if he does, then he'll feel guilted by you.

"no. i want to walk home with you" you say quietly. "if you want..." you trail off.

"it's fine. i'll walk you home" Shoto says bluntly.

you couldn't tell what was going on, but there was definitely tension in the air, and you couldn't figure out why. maybe he felt left out... or jealous.

once you got home, Shoto waved and said bye to you.

"wait! why are you leaving? i thought we could hang out" you say disappointedly while holding his arm before he could walk away.

"i don't know. i'm just... i need some time" Shoto says and turns away again.

you teleport in front of him and put your hands on your hips.

"are you upset with me or something?" you tilt your head in anticipation.

"no. i am not" Shoto says then tries to walk past you.

"then why don't you want to hang out. you've been acting weird all day" you say with an angry look on your face.

Shoto hated that he was making you feel this way. he just couldn't bring himself to tell you that he was jealous and worried about losing you.

"i just..." Shoto takes a deep breath in, "i didn't like seeing you with those guys' arms around you" Shoto says, having a difficult time getting that sentence out.

"were you jealous?" you ask, now with a snarky smile plastered on your face.

"no. i wasn't jealous" Shoto says, avoiding eye contact, "i just didn't like seeing it" he says while rolling his eyes.

you gasp loudly.

"you were totally jealous, Shoto!" you laugh and grab his hand.

"just come inside. they should be the jealous ones. none of them get alone time with me like you do" you say with a wink.

Shoto felt his face heat up, even on his icy side as you lead him inside.
