It looked to be a peaceful night in Summerville.

In reality, it was going to be marked as the final moments of one Egon Spengler.

The Ecto-1 roared through the streets, taking a sharp turn to the right, passing Spinner's as it did so.

You see, Egon was on a mission.

A mission, that, for the moment, wasn't entirely going to plan.

Knowing full well that they were in his tracks, Egon sped up and drove to the farmhouse, his home for the previous 20 years.

Going through the dirt path, Egon stopped the car and rushed inside his home, praying that his traps will work.

Closing the door, the scientist made his way to the couch and sat down on it, ghost trap in hand.

And he waited.

And waited.

And waited.

There was nothing.

He didn't hear the traps he activated. How did-

The room suddenly got colder.

Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw the puff of smoke that made its way inside the house through the small crack of the bottom of the door.

It was at this moment that Egon knew, he was gonna die.

There was no chance anymore. He was done for. They were gonna kill him, because he failed to stop the evil.

Wait.

If he dies, then Callie would get notified, meaning that she might come to stay here. After all, the last time he did research on his daughter, she was struggling keeping the apartment afloat for herself and the kids.

Granted, he didn't want the kids to be in danger, especially Trevor, given what had happened to Collette a few years ago. (A/N: Look, I know that's probably not her name, but I haven't watched the episode in a bit, so for now on, Trevor's bio mom is named Collette)

However, if Earth wanted a chance to survive, then someone had to take his home after he's gone.

Besides, Egon knew Callie was responsible and resourceful. He knew that Phoebe was smart and quick to think on her feet. And he knew that Trevor was a fighter at heart and not one to give up that easy.

He could hear the chanting.

On the one hand, he was saddened that he wouldn't have the chance to reconcile with Callie and get to know his grandchildren more. But, on the other hand, he felt, oddly, comforted by the fact that he knew that someone would pick up the pieces and finish the fight for him.

And so, he closed his eyes, he felt the hands on him, and then, Egon Spengler took his last breath as a living human being.

R.I.P Egon, you were always my favorite of the OG Ghostbusters
