Trevor couldn't help but to be curious as to what Sam and Dean wanted to talk about. He hadn't expected the boys to show up at the diner while he was at work. Thankfully, he had just started his break, so he didn't have to worry about getting into trouble.
"Nice hat." Dean joked as Trevor joined them on the booth and sat in front of the brothers.
"Shut up." The boy grumbled with a small blush. "I've been forced into it." He added before he straightened himself up and crossed his arms.
"So, what's up?"
"Trevor, how much do you know about your grandfather when he was alive?" Sam asked him.
"Not much." The teen shrugged his shoulders. "My mom doesn't talk about him too much."
The two men looked at each other before Dean sighed and spoke. "Okay, let's rephrase this. Does the name Egon Spengler mean anything to you?"
Trevor shook his head no. "Just know the name." He said before raising an eyebrow. "But I got a feeling you're gonna tell me something big."
"Yeah... you might wanna take a look at this." Same pulled out his laptop and opened it before showing it to Trevor.
It was his grandfather from his younger days. He could recognize him due to some photos he has found in some boxes. The video showed his grandfather and his friends wearing these beige jumpsuits, running around the streets of New York, and covered in... some white stuff that looked like ruined marshmallows.
"What the hell?" He mumbled.
"Trevor, have you ever heard of the Ghostbusters?" Sam asked.
The boy really couldn't say anything, but he did nod his head. He was probably just in shock.
"I have... but I just thought that it was some way to promote tourism." He admitted. "You're saying that my grandfather fought ghosts? This is for real??" He asked.
"It is." Sam said. "Trev, do you know what this means? You, and your sister, and your mother, you're all legacies."
"Legacies??" Trevor asked in confusion.
Why did this sound like the beginning of some "with great power comes great responsibility" speech??
"You're descendants of the originals." Dean began. "You three have the right to carry on the business that Egon laid on if you like."
Trevor just blinked.
This... this just felt like too much.
Could he really handle this now?? He figured that upon seeing Sam and Dean for the first time here, he might be involved. But this?? This was basically saying that he's a big player as to whatever is going on here.
But what could he offer??
Sam was smart, and his mom and Dean were cunning, and God forbid that Phoebe will get involved.
Trevor was just... good with a gun.
Not exactly effective with ghosts.
"Look, we know this sounds like a lot." Dean said, giving the boy a comforting smile. "Believe me, when we found that we were legacies to, we took a while to adjust to it."
"What do you mean?" The teen asked with raised eyebrows.
"Well, our grandfather was part of this group known as the Men of Letters. They're hunters, but more..."
"Snobbish and wear fez hats." Dean filled in, making his brother give a side eye for interrupting him.
"I was gonna say more sophisticated than us, but sure." Sam said before continuing. "Anyways, they had this entire catalogue of every monster that you can think of. And our grandfather was part of this group. But then, one night, a demon by the name of Abaddon, possessed their secretary and used her to kill every member except for our grandfather, who time traveled to meet up with his son. But... he was about a decade late."
