........
The Gusu area was characterised by nature and plants. Despite the cold weather all year round, the area was actually primarily filled with greenery.
The large group of disciples finally descended the mountain all currently finding inns to settle in for the day as they had long been separated from Lan Wangji and one another, into smaller groups.
Lan Wangji had brought them down the mountain earlier this morning, handed each disciple a few Lan firework signal, and a handful of message talismans as well. This in order to maintain contact, because even though he descended the Lan sect's mountain with them, he was only close to the groups in Gusu, which was still in the mountains.
Groups whose mission was further down were away from him, hence why the percussions to ensure he could communicate with or attend to them if anything were to happen were taken into account during preparations.
Nie YiFeng, Wei YueXin and Ouyāng Xinghua were a team, they were one of the groups closer to Hanguang-Jun.
Hunting in a small town south-east of Gusu, atop the mountains, which had been plagued by a soul consuming spirit as they deemed upon reading the request. The information they got from their envelope was rather vague, so they had to scavenge the library pavilion for all they could find about beings of this nature the two days before their departure.
The three kicked it off almost immediately, so they were more than pleased to go on a night-hunt together. Having been friends since the day they started sharing a room, and spending time together after class even when not obliged to.
The town they were visiting was called YouLín Zhen*, a not very creative name seeing as the town was quite literally hidden within a dense forest at the South-East boarder of Gusu. The dense forestry surrounded their boarders and not a lot of people lived here. Their live-style was way behind the rest of Gusu, even their neighbouring towns were years ahead of them, in terms of development.
They visited the place earlier in the afternoon to explore and find somewhere to stay, soon realising there was no inn in this desolate town. Forcing them back to the town right across the west forest to book an inn, before leaving to speak to the person who'd sent the letter to Gusu, back to Youlin zhen.
The town was overwhelmingly quiet and had this eerie mist which filled its streets, which were empty too. They could tell there was something wrong the moment they walked into the town the first time.
The group walked side to side, Yifeng with his pipa* strapped to his back by a dark green rope which matched his attire, the instrument wrapped in a white cloth. YueXin twirling her xiao around her fingers and Xinghua skipping in her steps, needless to say, they were an interesting group to observe.
The three made it to the address on the letter. An old, worn out man opened the door ever-so-slightly, the door blocked from opening further by a lock chain. The man picked an eye out through the crack to see the three disciples wearing different sect robes, all smiling stupidly at him.
