The club was alive with neon lights and pulsating beats, perfectly matching Beyoncé's excitement as she celebrated her 20th birthday. The place was packed with family, industry friends, and a few lucky fans who'd scored invites. Beyoncé was radiant as her mom, Tina, her father, Mathew, and her sister Solange were by her side, beaming with pride.

In the midst of the revelry, Y/n stood nervously by the bar, trying to blend in with the crowd. For five months, their relationship had been a secret, known only to Beyoncé's closest friends, Kelly and Michelle, along with her cousin Angie. But now, Y/n was about to meet Beyoncé's family for the first time. Most importantly, her father.

Kelly caught sight of Y/n and approached, her face lighting up with her signature smile. "Y/n, there you are! I was lookin' for your ass. Bey's been waitin' to introduce you to her people." Bey had wanted to keep things secret since the beginning because she didn't know where her relationship with Y/n was really headed since Y/n had such a 'bad boy' persona to the public and at first glance. Over the past few months of genuinely getting to know each other and then officially putting a label on their relationship, she realized that Y/n could be just as vulnerable as she could.

It was an act, an act that Beyoncé saw right through.

Y/n wiped her palms on her jorts, trying to steady her nerves. "Nigga, this is wild. I didn't think it'd be this crazy."

Kelly laughed, shaking her head. "Trust, it's only gonna get wilder. Come on, let's go."

As they walked towards Beyoncé and her parents,
Y/n's heart raced. They approached the group, and Beyoncé's eyes sparkled when she saw Y/n. She reached out and pulled them into a warm embrace. "Hey, baby," she said, her voice soft and affectionate.

"Hey," Y/n replied, trying to sound confident but feeling like a fish out of water.

Beyoncé turned to her parents. "Mom, Dad, this is my baby, Y/n."

Tina smiled warmly. "Nice to meet you, Y/n. Beyoncé's told us so much about you."

Y/n nodded, attempting to return the smile. "Nice to meet y'all too." Mathew, however, had a more scrutinizing gaze. He shook Y/n's hand with a firm grip. "So, you're the one who's been spendin' time with my daughter?"

The amount of times Y/n and Bey had almost been caught sneaking around by Mathew in her dressing rooms when they were performing at similar events was too many to count.

The closest they have come to him actually seeing them together was MTV's Spring Break special. They had gone two weeks without talking to each other because Bey was pissed that Y/n had gotten into some legal trouble. That was their first time seeing each other after no contact, so they ended up arguing in her dressing room for what felt like hours, but was really only thirty-minutes.

Bey's yelling definitely got Y/n's head put on straight when she threatened to end the relationship right then and there.

Anyways, mid fight, Mathew had walked into Bey's dressing room and Y/n had to keep her head down, pretending as though she had accidentally walked into the wrong one. When asked about the yelling he heard, Beyoncé had to tell him that those were only the sound of her being startled as she had not expected anyone other than the girls to walk into the room.

Y/n could feel the weight of Mathew's gaze as she cleared her throat. "Yes, sir. I care about Bey a lot. I know I'm not what you're used to, but she means everything to me."

Mathew's expression didn't soften immediately, but he gave a curt nod. "Well, we'll see how this goes. Just remember, my daughter's happiness is what matters most."

Beyoncé squeezed Y/n's hand reassuringly. "Dad, chill. Y/n's great, and has been nothin' but good to me."

The tension in the air eased slightly as Tina gave a gentle laugh. "Why don't we get some drinks and enjoy the party? It's a celebration, after all."

As the night went on, Y/n tried to relax and enjoy the festivities. Her and Beyoncé's parents exchanged more pleasantries, and while Mathew remained reserved, the evening passed without any major drama. By the end of the night, as Beyoncé and Y/n watched people walk out, Y/n felt a little more at ease.

"See? Not so bad," Beyoncé said, wrapping her arms around Y/n's neck as Y/n laid her hands respectfully on Bey's hips.

Y/n grinned, feeling the warmth of her presence. "Yeah, not bad at all. Thanks for makin' it easy."

Beyoncé kissed her softly. "I'm glad you were here. I had fun with you baby."

With that, they watched as a cleaning crew swept into the club building. Pulling away from Bey and saying her goodbyes to Beyoncé family, Y/n knew that her dad was still a bit iffy about their relationship.

'Things could either get better from here, or worse,' she said to herself as she kissed Bey goodbye, telling her to text her when she made it back to her New York hotel.

"Sooo..." Solange said approaching Bey as she pushed her shoulder with her sister's playfully. "Don't." Bey laughed already knowing that Solange was about to tell her how fine she thought Y/n was.
