Catch LA. Bougie as hell. Private. One of them joints with wine menus longer than the Bible and candles that probably cost more than my mama's light bill. I stepped in under that warm gold lighting, adjusting my silver rope chain and running my tongue across my teeth. I wasn't nervous—not really—but this was a blind date Ty and some random chick set up? So yeah, I was skeptical.
"Reservation under Ty." I said, my Brooklyn drawl slicing through the soft ass jazz in the lobby.
The host blinked, then damn near gasped. "Oh my...you're Y/N. What the fuck? Can I—could we maybe get a picture real quick? My man LOVES you."
I laughed, shifting my weight. "That's love. Appreciate it, for real."
"But I'm tryna go eat, my boy." I muttered under my breath, but I still leaned in, tossing up two fingers for the pic. "So, just make it quick."
Click.
"Thank you, thank you! Right this way—your table's out on the balcony."
I followed, still wondering what Ty had me walking into. He been tryna get me into something 'real' ever since my last lil' tabloid situation. I told that nigga I wasn't pressed. But of course he wasn't hearing' that.
But when the host pushed that glass door open and I stepped onto the terrace...
My brain flatlined.
One table. One woman. Legs crossed, black dress hugging every curve, head bent over her phone. Curls cascading, gold hoops dancing, wrist iced up. Skin glowing under them soft ass string lights like she got kissed by the sun on purpose.
It was Beyoncé.
Deadass. Beyoncé Knowles. Sitting there like some kinda trophy at the end of a game I ain't even know I was playin'.
I damn near tripped over the rug.
The host whisper yelled behind me in just as much shock as me. "That's Beyoncé."
I shot him a look like, 'I know.'
But how did this fuck nigga Ty know her? He just been sittin' on Beyoncé as a mutual this whole time?
We kept walking and the host kept whispering behind me like he wasn't loud as hell: "That's Beyoncé. That's Beyoncé."
No shit, Sherlock.
"Yo, you gotta chill." I laughed lowly and he hushed before nodded and telling me that our waiter would be out shortly.
I stopped mid-step, catching my breath as I took her in again. "Shit."
