The crowd was already loud before the cameras even started rolling.
BET staff moved like clockwork. Headsets on, clipboards tucked under arms, counting down segments while the DJ warmed the room up, playing some heat. The set glowed, the countdown graphic looping on the walls.
Y/n leaned back against the desk, tall as hell, arms folded easy across her chest. Six feet flat, broad shoulders under a fitted black tee, chain resting low. Calm energy presented all in the way she stood like nothing in the room could rush her.
Beside her, Rocsi flipped through cue cards, mumbling shit.
"You ready?" She asked, half grinning.
Y/n nodded. "Always."
Across the studio, Beyoncé waited just offstage.
She was glowing, eyes catching the lights even from a far.
The B'Day era showed her as loud, confident, grown. But standing there with her hands together in front of her, she looked focused and grounded.
Her eyes flicked once. Just once towards the desk.
Y/n didn't look at her just yet.
"Ten seconds." Someone called.
The crowd started clapping on instinct.
"Five."
"Four."
And within seconds the cameras were back rolling.
"Yo yo yo." Rocsi shouted over the cheers. "Hey, everybody? You know what time it is. This is 106 & Park!"
The audience erupted.
"I'm Rocsi—"
"And I'm Y/n." She said smooth, voice low, steady, her accents slipping through every syllable. "And today? Yeah. It's one of them days."
"I agree." Rocsi laughed. "She just dropped her sophomore album B'Day, it's already takin' over radios, clubs, everything."
"And she's sittin' right here with us." Y/n finished, finally turning towards the stage. "Make some noise for Beyoncé, everybody."
The place lost its mind.
Beyoncé walked out smiling, waving, energy controlled but warm. She hugged Rocsi first, then turned to Y/n for a beat.
Just long enough.
They hugged, but it was quick, polite, public. Nothing lingering. Nothing anybody could clip and slow down later.
But Beyoncé's hand pressed once, brief against Y/n's back before letting go.
