Charles ❤️
I'd just walked in to the club. Lights flashing all over my face. I still hadn't gotten used to the feeling no matter how many times i'd been papped. My eyes searched for the other racers that i saw sitting at the back of the club. They were having shots. Of course.
I made my way through the crowd clicking a few selfies with some people to the table.
"Heya boys" I said. "What are we drinking tonight?"
The girl that was sitting at the front of the table with her back facing yhe table opposite to me turned around as soon as I said this. I looked at her recognising her immediately. She looked phenomenal. Her hair loose and open and her dress cupping her waist perfectly.
"You?" We both said loudly at the same time looking at each other as if we'd seen a ghost.
It was her. It was her again. What was she doing her at MY table with MY friends?
"Wait you two know each other ?" Max asked looking at me with a question mark on his face.
"No!" We both said at the same time.
"Why'd you guys recognise each other then?" Lando asked smirking.
"Oh its just... its a long story.... We had an incident at the paddock" I replied
"Uhh anyways, Charles this is Jules my younger sister" said Max looking at Jules who looked pretty frustrated with my arrival.
Wait a minute? She was Max's little sister? Wow she's the sister Max was going on and on about?
"Oh so you're Jules.... Ahhh" I said
"Its Julia for you." She whispered to me in my ear.
"And Jules this is Charles." Max added.
"You're Charles?" She said almost frowning. "Wait as in Leclerc?"
"Nice to meet you" i said grabbing her hand and shaking it.
Jules 🌟
Everything added up now. The guard at the pool, him staying at the same hotel. Great! So not only was he extremely annoying he was also my brother's biggest rival on the track. Just the perfect amount of information that I needed to hate him."You know what you guys?" Danni said. "Lets get fuckin HAMMERED tonight!"
This was followed by cheers from everyone as Charles sat down next to me. Drink after drink, the glasses kept arriving at the table. A relentless stream of alcohol fuelling the rivalry as the night wore off they all descended into a state of inebriation. They laughter louder, their movement more and unsteady. Amidst the chaos I felt lost because I was the only one who wasn't drinking.
I moved through the cacophony of the party, making my way to max's side of the table to tell him that I wanted to go back to the hotel. His eyes were glassy, his movement sluggish. He was completely drunk when he looked at me, his words slurred together as he admitted that he couldn't drive.
Lando and Daniel chimed in assuring me they would bring max to the hotel and told me not to worry about it. They told me to go back myself , but that was precisely the problem. I was gripped by gnawing anxiety. I didn't know how to get home by myself. My driving experience was minimal at best and the thought of navigating through an unknown city was filling me with dread.
Before I could must the courage to tell them that I was not comfortable going home alone, and that I didn't know how to drive. Charles got suddenly from his seat with a swift reassuring smile, he asked, "Im heading back to the hotel too. Do you want a ride?" He dint seem drunk.
