Song for the chapter : "exile" by Taylor Swift (trust me)

Charles ❤️
I didn't want to attend the ball, but Carlos insisted it would be a good change of scenery. He thought it would be good for me to get out, clear my head.

As I stood there, trying to keep my composure, Carlos clapped me on the back, "Come on mate, it will be fun"

I forced a smile, nodding. "Yeah, sure."

Walking into the ballroom, I tried to focus on anything, but the thoughts of her. The chandeliers, the music, the people.

Just then I saw someone walking, it was her. My heart skipped a beat.

I had no idea she was coming.

Her pink dress was stunning, hugging her in all the right places, making her look like she belonged on a movie that not just a ball. I could hardly believe it was the same Jules I had been arguing with a few nights ago.

I took a deep breath, trying to focus on my date, who was a friend of Carlos. He set me up with her. But it was so hard to look at anything else, except for Jules.

And from behind her appeared Logan. Of course. He linked his arm with hers.

Logan was leaning in close, whispering something in her ear that made her laugh. It was like a punch to the gut. The way he looked at her. The way he made her smile. It all seemed too intimate too personal. I couldn't stand it.

As they moved further into the room, I made my way away from them. My heart still pounding, and not leaving the sight of her. I tried to ignore the way Logan's hand rested on her small back, and the way he'd get closer whenever he spoke to her.

Carlos noticed my distraction and nudged me, "Let's get a drink."

I followed him to the bar, my eyes still on her. "You're right, I just need to relax."

"Exactly," he said.

She finally looked at me, her eyes saying more than words ever could.

As I took a sip, I glanced over at her again. Logan had just led her outside, and I couldn't help, but feel the jealousy.

I should be the one with her, making her laugh, making her feel special. But instead, here I was pretending to be okay.

"Let's go mingle." Carlos suggested pulling me away from my thoughts.

We made our way through the crowd, chatting with people, but my mind was elsewhere. I kept wondering what she and Logan were talking about and if she was thinking about me at all.

Eventually, I found myself at the edge of the dancefloor with my so-called date, twirling around. Just then I saw her come back inside with Logan. They were relaxed, but there was still a hint of something in her eyes.

She and Logan had also joined the dance floor and started to dance.

It was like the universe is playing a cruel joke on me, forcing me to watch her in his arms. I tried to keep my focus on my own dance with Anna, but my eyes kept drifting back to Jules and Logan.

Jules 🌟
I looked at Logan. He was trying so hard to make me laugh and make me smile, but all I could think about was Charles and the stunning girl with him. As we came out of the balcony I just tried so hard to feel alright.

I couldn't tear my eyes away from Charles. He was doing the same, looking at me with an intensity that made my heart race.

I saw everyone on the dance floor. Max and Kelly, Mia and Lando, And then finally him with the girl.
