He lounged on the couch, unknown that I entered the room. His eyes widened and the narrowed as he reached the front page headline. It was a photograph of me and Charles hand intertwined captured under the glow of the paparazzi from last night.
It said "F1 DRIVER CHARLES LECLERC CAUGHT LEAVING A PARTY WITH RIVALS SISTER"
(Authors note: please j think of this as jules in a red dress. This was the best picture I could find😭😭)
Great so now not only did my father see this but so did the entire world. They all knew who I was now.
My father's face remained unchanged, the same deep wrinkles, furrow in his brow, and the same frown pulled at the corners of his mouth. He couldn't take his eyes off the picture of me, which Charles on the newspaper as he shook his head in disgust and disappointment.
The coffee cup slipped from my trembling hand, crashing onto the floor with a sound at the sight of him. The sudden noise had finally made him look up from the newspaper and fixate his gaze on me. I stood frozen as the silence between us, thick and with unspoken tension and unaskedquestions increased.
"You were always such a troublemaker now, werent you" he said, pointing to the picture accusingly.
That's the first thing he decides to say to me? After seven years of silence, seven years without a word from him, seven years without a word from me, that's what he chooses to say? Ask me about a baseless headline?
A tear welled up and rolled down my cheek.
I must all the courage I had left within me and said " it's not what it looks like not that it's any of your business."
My voice trembled slightly, but I forced myself to meet his eyes .
" what are you doing here?" I asked my voice, gaining strength and confidence as I straightened my posture.
" I'm here for Max, of course. I mean not him, but his race." He said pulling his specs away from his face into his hands.
"Oh" i said, and without another word, I left the room and ran to get out of there.
Tears streamed down my face as I made my way to the main door. I flung it open and stumbled it into someone. Max.
I completely crumbled in his arms, seeking refuge from the storm of emotions that just hit me. Without asking me a single question, he held me tightly and his embrace steadying as I clung to him. I could feel the warmth and security that I so desperately needed.
After two minutes of me, crying in his arms, he gently pulled me apart and asked "hey hey hey what happened?" His voice filled with concern.
The moment he pulled me apart, I noticed he was holding dad's favourite whiskey in his hand.
Wait why was he bringing dad whiskey because dad just got here so theres no way Max had enough time to get him the bottle between him arriving and now considering he arrived afted i left to get coffee. Fuck which means he knew.
