"Tell me everything." Sadie demanded as they sat in Luke's diner drinking milkshakes and sharing french fries. "I think I love the city." Harley's eyes twinkled at the thought.

"New York is a cesspool of carbon emissions and plastic." Luke scoffed as he dropped off a basket of chicken tenders.

"As I was saying, it was brilliant. I did some hard hitting journalism and put together my own mock morning show and Connor and I would have Wednesday night dinners with his mom and my roommate was some homeschooled freak that wanted to be a wildlife commentator." Harley gushed.

"So, are you madly in love with New York or madly in love with your internship plus one." Sadie giggled, a fry between her manicured fingertips as she pointed it accusingly.

"Having Connor visit every couple days was very nice, but even when he wasn't in New York it was still perfect. Everyone was hard hitting and talented and ambitious and I don't know. It just was motivating, like I could see that being my life." Harley shrugged. "But enough about my summer."

"Oh, I've spent my summer doing nothing interesting." Sadie yawned. "Bull crap! You went to the Maldives with Grant, you designed a whole mother-daughter home decor line, and you moved into your New Hampshire apartment." Harley recounted.

"Well, my best friend was busy working for The New York Times. I had to entertain myself somehow." Sadie gave a humble smile and a tilt of her head.

"I don't know how I'm going to survive Chilton without you," Harley frowned at the thought. "Hey, I'll be right by your side. Metaphorically." Sadie took Harley's hand. "Our best friend status knows no geographical bounds."

"Awe, S. That's so sweet," Harley gushed. "Besides, Chilton's your bitch. Especially now that you're a full fledged broadcast journalist with real work experience under your bedazzled belt."

"Dartmouth's got a real poet coming its way." Harley giggled. Suddenly Jess was blowing a party blower in Harley's face and a handful of confetti was raining down on her.

"Jess!" Luke let out an angry growl. "Surprise!" Jess smirked, slipping a party hat over Harley's face before he dropped down the empty chair at their table. "You better clean this crap up." Luke eyed the confetti now littering the floor. "Yeah, yeah." Jess brushed the man off.

"Can someone explain what just happened." Sadie blinked, tugging at her ringing ear. "It's my surprise welcome home party." Harley grinned a wide toothy grin that made her look five years younger.

"Bingo, Blondie." Jess did jazz fingers. "This doesn't seem like much of a party." Sadie glanced between the two like they had absolutely lost it.

"What! We got all the essentials." He pointed between the mess of confetti, the horn, and the hat. "It's the thought that counts." Harley punched Jess's arm, which made him break out into a goofy grin that matched her own.

"Well, my thoughts are telling me we could make this a real party with a little booze and a lot more confetti." Sadie wiggled her eyebrows.

"How long have you been sitting there?" Rory's voice woke Harley up, the blonde giving her sister a shove before closing her eyes tighter. "Not long. An hour, and a half," Lorelai's voice cause Harley to lift her head up from Rory's pillow.
