"As I mentioned yesterday, we will be holding a debate next week. Your subject 'Did Charles I receive a fair trial' The pros will represent the parliament who deemed they had sovereignty and the cons will represent the monarch and try and prove that the charge against him was not legal."
Ms. Caldecott paused, watching as Connor peered over at Harley before returning his eyes to his paper, repeating the motion a few times. "What is fascinating Mr. Blythe?" The woman questioned.
"Uh, nothing Ms. Caldecott." The boy tried. "Nothing Mr. Blythe?" She puzzled. "My notes. My notes are fascinating Ms. Caldecott." Connor spoke as he slid a thin notebook over the paper in front of him
"Yes, they are fascinating Mr. Blythe. As I was saying, the pro and con teams will each have two minutes and 30 seconds for introductions, six minutes for debate, three minutes for conclusions, and five minutes for questions from the audience.
"The winner shall be decided by a hand count from the rest of the class. Does that sound like fun, Mr. Blythe?" Connor jerked his head away from Harley, who he was staring at yet again.
"What?"
"The debate. Does it sound like fun?"
"Yes, it does."
"It does, doesn't it Mr. Blythe?"
"Oh, it absolutely does Ms. Caldecott."
"More fun than staring at Miss Gilmore?"
"Well, that's certainly questionable Ms. Caldecott." Connor glanced over at the blonde who he knew was smiling by the way she looked down in embarrassment as eyes watched her.
Ms. Caldecott gave the boy a sharp look before ignoring him. "Okay, any questions? Good, I'll assign your teams." Harley watched as the woman pointed at a few other students before pointing at her.
"Who did she point to?" Paris questioned quietly as she looked around. "Well, I think she," Madeline looked over at Louise and Rory. "Excuse me, Ms. Caldecott?" Paris stood. "I wasn't sure who you pointed to just now."
"Oh, uh, let's see. You, Miss Gilmore, Miss Lynn, Miss Grant. And Miss Gilmore is with Mr Dugray, Miss Conwyn-Savage, and Mr Blythe." She pointed to the other group of four. "Are you sure?" Paris sulked slightly as she looked over at Rory in distaste. "Yes I am, but thank you for asking."
☕︎
"So, we should make a plan." Rory spoke as she stood beside her twin, who was leaned against the lockers. "To do what?" Madeline's brows furrowed. "To work out our debate, Madeline."
