It was silent in the castle, the residents had all left for a mission, all but one. Horror peaked around the corner, glancing towards the doorway to Shattered's room. His mental breakdown earlier was a slight detour in his plans but he was fine now, for the most part. He listened for a few minutes for any signs of if another was still home, but he was met with more silence. Horror let out a huff and made his way towards Shattered's room door. He really hated how silent the castle was, not even an ambience in the background to provide some comfort, just dead silence.
"God...even my world wasn't..this silent.." Horror grumbled, coming up to the door of Shattered's room. He stared at the wood for a long time, a lingering thought in his mind to just turn back. He was in way over his head for thinking this was going to work. Bringing up a shaky hand to the doorknob, Horror's fingers slowly clasp around the brass, turning the doorknob. He prepared for the worst when he pushed open the door, speaking inside the surprisingly clean room. Horror opened the door all the way and glanced around the space, whistling. He had to admit, Shattered's room was probably one of the cleanest rooms he had ever seen. It was quite nice to see compared to everything he's been through.
Horror shook his head, he had to stay on task. There was already one obvious thing he had to keep in mind, don't ruin anything. With how neat his boss' room looked, he couldn't make the slightest change in the setting or it would be evident that someone went into his room. Horror went to the bed first, being careful not to ruin the neatly tucked in sheets. He looked under and all around, even slightly shuffling some of the things underneath the bed, which he of course put all back into place. He checked the nightstand next, carefully peaking into each drawer. Again, he didn't find anything.
Horror looked all around the room, peaking and searching through every nook and cranny he could find. He even looked through Shattered's office, not finding a single apple. Horror went back to the room to see if he missed anything, of course, he found nothing again. He sighed out and began to head for the door, only to stop in his tracks when he caught a glimpse of something in the corner of his vision. He looked back over at a painting against the back wall right above Shattered's bed. Horror walked back over to the bed, carefully inspecting the painting. He didn't notice it at first or even the second time, but the painting wasn't fully against the wall. A thought came to mind and Horror tugged his sleeve over his hand, carefully grabbing the edge of the frame and pulling it out. While he knew he had no fingerprints, he was still cautious of touching the frame with his bare hand. From the looks of it and how high up the painting was, the only way to reach it was to either stand on the bed or use something that could reach. Horror assumed his boss would just use his tendrils because of the angle and how high someone would have to reach. Luckily, Horror was tall, he could reach it with no problem.
Horror's eye widened when he spotted the small safe hidden behind the painting. That had to be where the apples were. He could get the faint scent of the fruit coming from the safe, but there was an underlying bitterness to it. Horror furrowed a brow and took a closer look at the safe. At first glance the safe looked normal, but Horror could see the near invisible veil that surrounded the metal. The barrier had a slightly yellow shine when light was exposed upon it, and Horror didn't dare come close to it. He knew better than to touch the magic barrier. The thought of his boss showing up suddenly came to mind and he shuddered. He'd rather not fuck around and find out.
He carefully closed back up the hidden space and pressed the painting against the wall, making sure it looked as perfect as possible. Horror skittered out of the room and shut the door, practically running down the hall and straight to his room. He pushed open the door and shut it behind him, leaning against the door. The sudden wave of anxiety hit him and his breathing picked up. Horror slowly lowered to the floor and curled up, trying to get his breathing under control. He was terrified that Shattered already knew he snooped around his room, now only waiting for what's yet to come. Bloodstained fingers clutched at his jacket and he let out a choked sound. He found what Night wanted, and now he could let his little prince know that his boss did have the apples.
