“And so, we made a bet again. I don't have any idea on what to make him do when he loses.”

“How about making him crossdress in public to get him embarrassed.” Gakushu replied. We were having a chit chat in between our study sessions at his place.

I stared at him blankly. “Why the hell would I do that?” I hit his forehead with my finger as a joke.

He rubbed the spot where I hit him and chuckled awkwardly. “Yeah, that's not reasonable of me to say.”

I smiled and leaned back in the chair.

"I'll focus on defeating him first and think about that later. Anyways, where were we?”

“We were calculating velocity for this trai-” Before Gakushu could finish, his father, the principal, entered the room.
We both went quiet.

“Uh, good afternoon… sir.” I hated this man the most but as a formality, I had to greet him.

He ignored my greeting and turned to Gakushu.

“Wouldn't it be better if you study alone? You can focus better without getting distracted.” He said coldly to his son.

“We were studying together to clear each other's doubts and ask each other some questions regarding the subject.” Gakushu replied.

“Whatever the reason, I have warned you about maintaining a distance from her. I don't want your result to be ruined because of some girl.”

‘He's going to scold him right now? Does he not know I'm sitting right here?’

“Father, I-”

“Excuse me for interrupting the conversation, Asano San.” I said. “I don't have any intention to harm your son, so why am I unwelcomed by you?”

“Y/N San. As your school's principal, I dismiss you.” He turned authoritative, trying to use his position to make me get lost.

I looked at Gakushu who seemed frustrated at his father but remained silent. I picked up my books and bag to abide by the principal’s instructions.

Gakushu might have gotten in trouble if I stayed for long.

‘Is that the reason he sent me down to the E-class? To get distant from his son? Tsk.’

.

The exams were already over and I had proved my brilliance with my result.

…Y/N L/N: 490 points- 2nd rank…

“You lost, red boy” I stuck out my tounge with one eye closed at him while holding my Maths answer sheet in front of his face. “Isn't it so fun to see your face red just like your hair?”

“Tch.” He looked away from me and tried to hide his embarrassment.

“Trying to look cool with hands in your pockets?” I poked my finger on his reddened cheeks. He pushed my hand away in annoyance.

“Stop it now. What do you want from me?” He turned his face to the other side. “About that bet, what is it?”

“Hmm… I’ve always wanted to see you doing something absurd.” I placed my hand on my chin and thought about it. There were alot of things I could ask him to do. It's rare that Karma ever agrees to do anything someone asks of him. This opportunity might not come again. The smarter choice was to save it for later.

“Sigh, I still haven’t thought about it. I’ll save this chance for later then.”

He looked at me with relief in his eyes. “It better not be something too absurd.”

I simply smirked at him. “I’ll think of using it on the island trip our class earned. The trip where I’ll get to shoot one of Koro sensei’s tentacles. Not you.”

He twitched his right eye. Why wouldn’t he, when I shared the top rank in mathematics with Asano. I became one of those students in the E-class who got a chance to take off the yellow teacher's tentacle.

.

Since the incident with Gakushu's father the other day, I had not heard from him. Nor did he walk to school with me.

‘Is he giving me a cold shoulder on purpose or it has something to do with his father?’

On the day of assembly before our summer break, when he was giving a speech as the council president, he avoided looking in our class’ direction. Especially mine.

Once the assembly was over, I decided to confront him. I saw him going to the principal's office when I called out his name from behind.

“Gakushu! Wait…”

I hurried my way over to him. “Hey, have you been avoiding me?” I grasped his wrist from behind.

He freed it with a jolt without looking back at me.

“Gakushu... What's wrong?” I asked in a concerned tone.

“Y/N…” He finally spoke. “My father has given me a final warning to keep you distant. And seeing that I did not get the highest marks in all subjects, I think it will be better for me to listen to him.”

I take a step forward and place my hand on his shoulder from behind. “So you're blaming it on me that you did not get the perfect score?”

He turned his head towards me and shouted with an overwhelmed expression, “You're too distracting for me!”

Without another word, he walked away. I stood there silently, staring at him as he got away from me.

He never raised his voice at me, no matter how upset he was with me. But if he shouted at me, he must be having a hard time with something. I gave him the space he wanted from me.

Almost a week passed by but he still hadn't gotten in touch with me. Nor did we cross paths with each other since it was the summer break already. We had fights before but they never went on this long. I sent him a text that day but he never replied to it.

Time skipped in, and it was our island trip already.
