"Happy Birthday, Karma. I got a present for you." I extended forward the paper bag in my hands while smiling, looking at what my expression looked like through the mirror.

'That wasn't very good. Again...'

"Karma, our classmate told me it was your birthday. So, I got you something. Happy Birthday." I extended just one hand this time, with the other behind my back.

I could hear crickets screech. "NO! This WON'T do!" I placed the present aside on my desk and sat down, leaning back on my chair.

"How should I give it to him?" I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Will my feelings be too obvious if he knows I remembered his birthday?" I put a hand on my cheek. "Maybe I should invite him to a movie? Yes!"

I grabbed my phone from the side and looked up the movies that were showing in the cinema. "Let's see..."

Santa Stole My Heart

A Christmas Prince

Endless Love
'No Shit, Sherlock. This is the romance genre. I won't watch this with him.'

Don't Look Now

The Midnight Meat Train

Would You Rather
'Nu-uh. I can't stand horror.'

The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Drive Angry

'The titles are weird enough. I doubt the movies.'

"I can't!" I throw away my phone. "They don't have a single good movie this week AND to top that, it's the 25th of December tomorrow."

I throw my head on the desk, "How should I bring up this present then?"

I picked up the ringing phone without checking who it was from.

"Hmm..." I tiredly groaned.

"Hello? You, there?"
"Yeahhh..." I drew the prefix sound long.

"Wow, tired much? Anyways, wanna go to the movies? There's a movie called 'The Man who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot."
"Name yourself..."

"Eh? Gakushu Asano. So, wanna see that movie? It's intriguing from the name."
"Oh. It's just you."

Things had been going almost like how it used to be before. Although, I wasn't sure if he had gotten over his crush on me, yet.

"So? I asked you if you were willing to go to the movies with me?"

"Are you asking me out again?" My tone was still dry.

"No, I'm just asking as friends. My dad doesn't seem to have a problem with me enjoying my time now."

"Argh... But I'm preoccupied with things."

"What is it that makes you so dreary on Christmas?"

Should I tell him I like Karma? But if he still has a thing for me then it'll just make him all grumpy and moody again to find out I like his rival.

"First tell me, do you still like me?" I sat up straight now, rather than having my head thrown on the desk.

"I guess I do. Why? Did you change your mind about me?" I could hear his teasing smirk.

"Nope, just wanted to clear my doubts." I leaned back in the chair again.

"Hm? Does this have anything to do with why you sound so dull today?"
"It just might."
