Chapter Three
Ngumuso ako at sinipat ang bola na tatamaan ko sa billiards.
"Maka-focus, walang pustahan, Myan." Ani Archie.
"Shh. Ingay." Suway ko sabay tira.
Pareho kaming walang klase kaya ayun nandito kami sa tambayan ngayon.
"Nakita ko si Jasmine at Tok, akala ko ba break na sila?"
"Napaka-tsismoso mo naman, Archie."
"Curious lang. Iba yun sa pagiging tsismoso."
"Awan. Tinanong ko naman si Tok, kung ano ba? Sabi nya closure lang daw." Umupo ako sa may billiards. "Tingin mo, mahal nya na si Jasmine? I mean, she's pretty, she's smart."
"Bakit tunog nagseselos ka?"
"What?" Namilog ang matang sabi ko. "Me? Sounded jealous?"
Huminto si Archie sa pagsipat sa akin.
"It was supposed to be a joke, grabe yung reaksyon mo. You should seen your face."
"I'm not jealous. In fact, I'm happy for him."
Archie stood up straight and look at my eyes. Bumukas ang pinto, we saw Tok went inside.
"Speaking of the devil." Ani Archie. "Tol! Wala nang klase?"
"Nagcutting kayo?" He said, like accusing us.
"Of course not. Wala akong klase, even Archie."
"Anyway, since nandito na si Tok. Aalis na ako."
"Where are you going?" Hinila ko sya sa braso.
"May date ako. Bye!" Archie kissed my cheeks and Tok's cheeks.
"Gago." Iling ni Tok sabay punas sa pisngi nya.
Nilapag ko ang stick sa billiards and narrowed my eyes at him.
"You good?"
He slightly nodded. "Wala ka ng kalse?"
"Wala na."
Sinilip nya ang relo nya bago binalik ang tingin sa akin.
"Tara. Get your bag."
"Saan?"
"Roadtrip."
Ang bilis kong hinila ang bag ko at sumunod sa kanya. He locked the door before we went out.
"Got a problem?" Tanong ko agad pagkasakay.
"Nah, I want to unwind for a minute."
Sabi nya ikot lang daw kami. Pinadaan ko sya sa drive thru. We have no destination, ganito naman kami lagi ni Tok. Kaag ganito, okay naman. Nagkakaintindihan naman kami.
"Is this about Jasmine?" Tanong ko na hindi nya sinagot. "Silence means yes."
"Ayoko maging unfair sa kanya, kaya humingi nalang ako ng closure."
"So why did you try with her?"
"Akala ko mag iiba." He shrugged.
"Okay naman si Jasmine ah!"
"Yeah, but it's not about her. It's about me."
Tumango ako, magdidilim na noong pabalik na kami sa Pasay ngayon. Kung saan saan lang kami nakarating ni Tok.
