Keith pov

Milani and I went to the quest diagnostic for testing.

Once we arrived, Madison texted us, "Could yal please not approach us. I don't want my son to get his hopes up. He doesn't know he's getting tested for paternity, I let the nurses know already."

I looked over at Milani as she read the text on her phone and she had a look of sympathy on her face.

We went inside the office and sat away from them. I couldn't help, but look at him. Milani would take quick glimpses at him. After a while, Milani stopped looking and kept her eyes glued to her phone.

He sat quietly, reading on a book. In person he looked completely like Madison, it made me feel I was deceiving myself when I first thought he had my eyes.

You can tell he was well mannered and easygoing, he reminded me of Keiko.

"Marli has to go get fitted for her dress." Milani said breaking me out of thought.

"What time?"

"After school. I need to meet that boy parents."

"You'll meet them at the send off."

"Why you think he asked her to prom?"

"Same reason the other guys did." I replied. She just side eyed me.
The nurse sent Madison and her son back for testing. His name was Mason.

I was anxious, more anxious about thae fact we weren't knowing right away.

Milani must of saw my eyes follow them all the way in, so she said,"Uh I want to put Keiks in Vocal lessons. She's really good."

"Yea."

"Keith it's not that damn serious, to the point you can't have a conversation with me. All the short answers, can stop."she lowly argued.

"It is to me, this not that damn serious thing, is gonna cause big changes for everyone. Him adjusting to a new family. The kids adjusting to a new sibling, and my wife considering leaving me because of it." I lowly blurted.

She was hushed.

"I wouldn't have done that to you...I'd never fucking do that to you" I continued.

"I never said th-"she said before I cut her off saying,"You implied it. I asked, you shrugged. So what does that mean?"

"It means nothing."

"Alright Chanel." I said before the nurse called for me.

We got up and went into the door, on our way in, Madison and Mason came out. Him and I both exchanged a smile as we passed each other.

Nurse swabbed me and we were done. It was just crazy something so extreme required something so simple like a swab in the mouth.

Milani and I left once everything was done and we just sat in the car.

"Yea, he has your eyes." Milani said breaking the silence.
