Marli has been occupied with her boyfriend , so it was a surprise she stayed home this weekend.
I knocked on her door and she said,"Come in."
She was in bed and Keiko was in bed with her. Mars was crocheting , while Keiko was on her laptop, and they were sharing earbuds. Kairo was sitting on the bean bag, with his headphones in playing on his switch.
I'm so thankful for their close knitness. Marli loves her siblings like she made them. They enjoy being under her and going to her. She hasn't let growing up distance herself from being a friend to them. They may fight, but be right back cool hours later.
"I'm surprised you're home this weekend." I said.
"Ryleigh and her mom are going out of town for a funeral."
"Oh ok, you know you have your mom worried." I said.
"About what?" She asked.
"That you're avoiding us or you're not happy here."
"Oh nah that's not it, just the curfew thing."
"Yea, we figured that." I said.
"How's your little friend." I asked.
"Jahsai?"
"Yea him."
"Good he has graduation tomorrow."
"His parents going?"
"I hope so, he'd love it."
"Yea, you know he can come over here sometimes. We'd like to get to know him better."
"Uh yea sure, we just been occupied with senior events."
"I get it, do yal plan on staying together, since you're still in school and he's graduating? Is he going off to college?"
"Yea, we're staying together. Yea he's going off to college, he had his signing day on Wednesday , he's going to Michigan state University for their football team."
"Whoa, that's far out. You're a strong one."
"Daddy why would you say that?"
"I'm sorry, he seems to be a nice loyal guy."
"You don't think he'll be loyal to me, do you?"
"In honesty I don't think so, but I don't know the guy like that. There's a chance he's gonna do right by you."
"He better." Keiko said as Marli looked over at her. She looked back at her computer.
"Well what yal doing?" I said trying to change the topic.
"I'm showing Mars a song and she's helping me fix it." Keiko said.
"That's wassup , what the song about?"
"Be happy with who you are and where you are in life."
"Sounds like a good as song Keiks I look forward to hearing it." I said smiling at her.
"I'll show yall when I'm ready."
"Ok, uh Ro." I said, "Sir ." Kairo responded.
"I'm bout to get on the game you wanna join?" I asked."Yea, are you gonna do it on twitch?"
"You wanna do it on twitch?" I asked.
"Yea, so they can see you get bodied on Call of Duty by your 11 year old son." Kairo said getting up.
"Oh talking smack I see, let's go." I said as I followed him.
Kairo and I played the game til dinner time was ready.
