Carter raised an eyebrow at the boy, “You're not serious, are you?” she asked but the look on Jacob’s face said otherwise. He seemed to visibly gulp as he shook his head, “let's get out of here,” he muttered, lowering his head as he quickened his pace.

“Wait! Jacob!” Carter frowned, causing him to stop as he turned to face her, “arent you gonna go talk to her?” she asked. Jacob sighed uneasily, “I like Bella, Carter. You know that…” he said. Carter scoffed, not believing his words as she stepped towards him, “you did not just say that Jake, especially when you just found your imprint!” she argued but the boy simply shook his head, “Don't tell Bella… please.” he muttered, waiting for carter to reply. She sighed lowly, nodding as Jacob rushed down the stairs.

She followed behind him, they had a bigger problem on their shoulders than Jacob refusing to accept his imprint and it needed to be dealt with first.

Carter sighed as she watched Sam pace the living room, deep in thought. Paul rubbed her knee comfortingly as the pack stared at their leader, carter shook her head as she got up, blocking Sam’s way as she stared at him intently, he refused to look away too.

“Sam, listen to me,” she began, “an army, a vampire army is not just a threat to Bella and the Cullens, this will affect us all equally. If the newborn army can come to Forks, they can certainly come to La Push too and it is our responsibility to protect our tribe. Jasper Hale told us himself,” she motioned towards the three boys who stood behind the couch, “that newborns are uncontrollable, they are too powerful and too bloodthirsty. You’ve seen the damage they have done in Seattle, we can't let that happen here too.” she told him and Sam sighed as he went to sit next to Paul.

Carter continued, “We need to work with the Cullen’s. This problem is bigger than all of us and we need their help, just as much as they need ours.” she finished.

Billy sighed from his place at the coffee table, “she's right, Sam.” he said and the older boy nodded, “when do we start?”

Carter trudged up the short cliff behind Sam as the whole Cullen family, including Bella showed up before her. The remaining wolves crowded around her, everyone in their wolf form aside from her. She grinned as Paul brushed against her leg lovingly and she ran her hand through his soft fur.

Edward walked over to his father, “they don't trust us enough to be in their human form, except Carter, of course.” he told the patriarch who nodded, “they came, that's all that matters.”

Jake.’ Sam let out a snarl of warning as Jacob began walking over to Bella, forcing him to focus on the matter at hand, carter smirked, “Carlisle,” she nodded in greeting and nodded back, “Carter, welcome,” he muttered as he looked over at Edward behind him, “I hope the two of you will translate?” he asked and carter smiled, “gladly.” she agreed.

“Welcome,” he addressed Sam, “Jasper has experience with newborns and he can teach us how to defeat them,” he motioned towards his son and the blonde stepped forward.

‘What’s the difference? Between newborns and them?’ Sam asked and Carter nodded, putting his thoughts into words, “we’d like to know how you differ from the newborns.” she told him.

“They are a great deal stronger than us,” Carlisle answered. “As their own human blood lingers in their tissues. Our kind is never more physically powerful than in the first several months of their new life.”
