Carter hugged Emily tightly as the pack got ready to leave for the battle. The Cullen’s had already reached the location and the army was already on their way, according to Alice. 

“Stay safe,” Emily sighed as she let Carter go, giving the younger girl a soft smile as Carter smirked, “I will be, Em, don't worry,” she told her as she walked over to Paul who reached out for her, immediately pressing himself close to her.  

They watched as the rest of the pack bid her goodbye and it didn't take long before the pack had stepped out of the house. Carter kissed Paul fiercely before she and Leah walked away behind some trees, immediately stripping their clothes before shifting. 

Both the girls rushed back to join the pack as they began running into the forest, staying close together. 

Carter had already bid goodbye to her parents and Abigail had held her tightly, not letting go of her until her father finally convinced her to. She cupped Carter’s face and placed a kiss on her forehead, “come back to us, darling.” she whispered and Carter smiled, “I will, Mom.” she replied before hugging her dad too. 

Jake was already up at the campsite with Edward and Bella and he would soon be exchanging his position with Seth who had begged Sam and Carter to let him fight but they had flat-out refused.

‘Seth let’s go.’ she called to him and the two parted away from the pack, running up the track they knew led to the campsite. Carter was accompanying the younger boy to make sure that he stayed there and then she would come back with Jacob. 

The two reached the campsite just in time as Bella walked out of her tent, they slowed down, trodding up to her as she greeted them. Carter looked over her shoulder as Edward walked up behind them, “Where’s Jacob has he already…?” she trailed off and Edward shook his head, “Not yet. He’s checking to see if the woods are clear before he leaves.” 

Seth slowly walked away from the couple, Carter doing the same but instead, she walked off to the opposite side, she spotted Jacob walking up to them, “hey Carter,” he muttered and she nodded at him. He passed by her, going to check on Bella and Carter didn't bother to move until she heard Jacob speak loudly, “you’re marrying him?” he seethed as Carter turned around. 

Bella gaped as he stood there seething, she scoffed in disbelief as she looked at Edward with a hint of betrayal, “you knew he was listening!” she accused and Edward looked straight at her, “he deserves to know.” 

Jacob turned around, stalking off and Carter debated about following him but before she could, Bella had already started walking towards him, edward attempted to stop her but she snapped at her boyfriend, or fiance, Carter figured. 

Bella called after Jacob as Carter slowly trudged up to stand next to Edward, ‘so… you’re marrying her?’ she asked and Edward smiled awkwardly, “yeah… I hope that's still the case.” he muttered and Carter huffed, rolling her eyes, ‘don't worry, one thing I know for sure, Bella’s crazy about you.’ she reassured him and Edward grinned, looking down at her, “thank you, carter. I know we’re not exactly your favourite people in the world but I'm grateful for that.” 

‘So I guess congratulations are in order?’ she asked and Edward nodded, looking behind her where they saw Bella walking back towards them, “yeah, I guess so…” he muttered as she reached them. Edward turned to look at Carter, “Good luck,” he nodded and Carter nodded, bounding off behind Jacob as the two rushed to meet the rest of their pack.
