Carter grimaced as Jacob was thrown into the air by Paul before she turned to face Sam who observed the two gravely, “Bella thinks Victoria might be the one behind the newborn army,” she told the alpha. 

“What makes her think that?” he asked as Jacob stood up again, grunting, “again!” Sam ordered as the two began sparring again and Carter shrugged, “Because something similar happened with Jasper Hale when he first turned. The Biers kid is more like a second in command for her, she lets him call the shots so that she can stay out of Alice’s visions.” she told him.

Paul tackled Jake to the ground once more as Jared laughed loudly behind them and Sam nodded, turning to look at her, “Well,  if it is the redhead then it's two birds with one stone for us, we can get rid of both problems together.” carter nodded, “that's true, but we’ll need to train harder… we know she's not gonna stop at anything to get what she wants.” 

“We’ll do our best.” Sam told her and Carter nodded, walking over to Paul who wrapped his arm around her waist, “ew!” she made a face, “you're all sweaty!” she whined as Paul chuckled, “Yeah, just the way you like it,” he wiggled his eyebrows and carter laughed, shaking her head, “that's so not true!” she protested, hitting his shoulder playfully. 

Paul grinned, peppering her face with kisses as she laughed loudly. 

“Hey, Carter! C’mon, we gotta go!” Jacob called as he walked back out of the house and Carter groaned, “do we have to?” she asked as Paul rolled his eyes at Jacob who shrugged, “If you wanna get done with this problem as quick as I do, yeah.” he mumbled and carter sighed, finally moving away from paul as she grabbed her jacket, “alright, let's get this over with then,” she placed a quick kiss to paul’s lips and smiled, mouthing ‘i love you’ as they walked into the forest. 

The walk to the clearing wasn't too long so the two didn't bother to shift as they continued to walk through the forest. Although the silence between them was comfortable, Carter clicked her tongue, “so,” she started as Jacob looked over at her, “about your imprint-” she began before he cut her off, “I thought I told you not to mention it,” he said, his tone snappy.

Carter stopped in her tracks and scoffed, “Okay, first of all, don't ever interrupt me like that again. I don't care whose bloodline you belong to, I'm older than you and you can't disrespect me. You got it?” she asked, staring at him intently as Jacob sighed, “yes, sorry.” he muttered as they began walking again.

“And dude you didn't even listen to what I was gonna say, bella already has a boyfriend, and neither of them is even considering a breakup. In fact, she’s Edward's mate, that bond is just as important as any imprint bond and no one can come in between a bond like that, Jacob,” she told him. 

“If you think you have a chance with Bella, you're more delusional than I thought whereas you've now gotten a chance to experience real true love,” she shook her head, “and you're the one pushing it away this time.” she finished and Jacob seemed to be deep in thought as he didn't reply to her words. 

The rest of their walk was spent in silence as Jacob seemed lost somewhere deep in his mind. Just as they reached the clearing, Carter grabbed his arm, stopping him from going any further, “just so you know, I'm good friends with her, your imprint.” she clarified, “If you want, I can introduce you guys.”
