TW : violence and SA attempt

(this is the entire flashback of Carter's incident with Nathan and it may be extremely heavy and triggering for many of you. I suggest skipping this chapter for the sake of your own mental well-being and taking care of yourselves, babies. The most triggering parts, in my opinion, have been written in italics. Love you all.)

Flashback

“Right, well, they said they would meet us at Nick’s and Jayden will come with them,” Vera hummed as she lay on Carter’s bed, her head hanging off as she played some game on her phone.

Carter hummed a sound of agreement as she focused on getting her eyeliner equal, “Alright, we’ll take mom’s car. I don't plan on drinking tonight,” she muttered. Vera sat up straight, frowning, “what? Why not?” she asked and Carter sighed, “I have that History presentation tomorrow and I cannot fuck it up.”

The redhead chuckled at that before throwing herself back onto the bed, “well sucks to be you, I guess. I plan on getting wasted,” she sang before turning over to lay on her stomach, she looked at Carter through the mirror as the brunette picked up mascara, “you’ll drop us off at home?” she asked and carter rolled her eyes at her, “do I have a choice?” she asked and vera hummed as she shot her a sarcastic smile and whispered, “no.”

Carter sighed, “you take way too much advantage of me turning eighteen before you, Bishop,” she said before looking at her through the mirror, “also how are you so confident your mom won’t catch your drunk ass when I drop you off,”

“Pfft, please I'm basically a pro at this now, Carrot. I don't get caught.”

Carter gave her a blank stare, “I had a first-row ticket to when you almost got your ass whooped by your mother two weeks ago, don't give me that bullshit.”

Vera groaned as she buried her face in Carter’s blankets, “Don’t remind me, you have no idea what a long ass lecture I got today before coming here.” she sat up, poorly imitating her mother’s voice, “‘You'll end up making bad decisions, Vera.’ ‘it ruins lives, Vera.’ ‘anything could happen, Vera, people are dangerous.’”

Carter huffed a laugh, “She’s not wrong you know,” and Vera groaned at her for the billionth time, “I know she isn't wrong. Why do you think I take Jayden with me?”

Carter frowned, “he’s your cousin, not your bodyguard,”

She waved her hand, “basically the same thing. Are you done yet?”

Carter chortled as she put down her makeup brush, “you're a bitch,” she grinned and Vera placed a hand on her heart with an expression of gratitude, “That's the nicest thing you've said to me all week.”

The sound of loud music blasting reached their ears even before the two had entered the street and Carter could already see all the people crowded around the house where the party was happening. People were walking in and out of the house, some of them already wasted and others hiding in random corners smoking.

The two girls didn’t pay any mind to all the people littered outside the house as they made their way in. They didn't even know the guy who had hosted the party, all Carter knew was that he was in her Physics class.
