"Hey y/n" I hear a young voice greet me as I'm about to walk up the stairs

I turn around cautiously and see my ten year old sister

standing with her arms crossed and a huge smirk appearing on her face

"Hey chucky" I smile and act like I wasn't sneaking in

"Don't worry mom and dad aren't home they didn't even notice you left" I let out a sigh hearing those words

"Now you on the other hand we're gone to so where did you go?" She asked already knowing my answer

"None of your business now I'm going to go to my room okay" I huffed

I started walking up our stairs but her voice stopped me in my tracks

"Fine then I'll tell mom and dad you were sleeping over at Phillips house two days ago and NOT Wendy's" she emphasized the not

"Really chucky ugh fine what do you want from me so you keep your mouth shut?" I asked taking a few steps closer to her again

"$15 and you buy me a new baseball" I groaned in annoyance

"$5 and I get you two baseballs" I persuaded

"Deal you just gave me more money though" she chuckled pleased with her bargain

But in reality I gave her significantly less money than she asked for

because a baseball is only 0.99c and I wasn't giving her ten bucks I was giving her $5

I didn't tell my younger sister that though

"Ok here let me go get the money" I told her

"What about the baseballs?" She stopped me again

"You can buy them yourself I'll give you the money for that as well okay?" I responded anoyed

"Fine" she sighed

I ran to my room grabbing $5 from my stash of money

as well as exactly enough change for her to buy 2 baseballs

I ran back downstairs and gave her the money

"Thank you now you can go get change or whatever you were doing" she shooed me away

"Thanks for your permission" I gave her a sarcastic smile

"No problem now bye I'm going to go play baseball" she smiled

"Okay what time will you be back? so I know when to make dinner" I asked

"7 ish don't wait for me though I can just reheat the food" I nodded

She then picked her bat and hat up walking out of the front door

I walked back up my stairs down the hall until I reached my room rolling my eyes at how annoying she is

I walk into my room and drop my bag onto my floor beside my bed

I then plop onto my bed happily getting more comfortable each second

My head was still throbbing from my hangover which had set in

My eyes were being irritated so I quite aggressively shut my blackout curtains

Then laid my head back down and started drifting into sleep

Until I was rudely pulled from almost falling asleep

Because the phone in my room started ringing

I took one of the extra pillows covering my ears from the noise

Until it stopped and I though it was over until I heard talking

I pulled the pillow off my head and turned to see my older sister

She was standing in my doorway with my red phone in hand

And was talking to whoever was on the other end of the phone call

She waved and gave a fake smile to which I groaned and turned to face my wall with my back facing Bella

Now in the sixties you usually only had one phone in the house

Those would mostly be in the kitchen and had wires so you couldn't walk far

The only reason I had one in my room was because the old owners used my room as an office

And the husband got to many calls for him to continuously go to the kitchen

So the wife got a new phone and a second landline installed into the office

And the reason why Bella didn't have the room was because she wanted the biggest one

Bella continued talking for a minute or two before hanging up

I didn't try to listen to anything she said instead I tried blocking her out

"Do you want to know who that was?" Bella asked

"Not right now tell me later I'm really tired" I mumbled

"Okay I'll wake you up in a few hours before mom and dad get home" she said

I just raised my arm and gave her a thumbs up

Seconds after the lights turned off and I heard my door close

So I returned to closing my eyes and pulling my blankets over my body

and after a few minutes I immediately drifted into a sweet sleep
